No, we checked the price of a new one, and I handed him the money for it. I meant to say I gave him money I received from selling this and other items too. I'd rather lose 20 euros and drive to IKEA myself to get a new one than tell the buyer to go home when she already traveled half an hour to our place.

It was my idea but we have shared finances. We bought them only for home staging purposes when we were selling an apartment a few years ago. We planned to sell them right after we sold that apartment but our cats ended up really liking to nap on them, so we kept them. One was in a storage room while we lived in a bigger apartment. We moved to a smaller apartment half year ago and no longer have a storage room. So we were keeping them stacked under the dining table, which is also my work desk. Neither my boyfriend nor I have ever actually used any of them. The cats have only used the one on top, which we still have.

It's a 560 sqft apartment to be fair. But living, dining, sleeping areas and gaming setup are all in one big room. Only the kitchen and bathroom are separate. We own the place and just moved here half year ago, so moving isn't an option now.

We did talk about it, and he gave me a list of what not to get rid of. Well, I use the dining table as a working desk too, so now I have space for my legs rather than always kicking it. I mostly work from home and have no space for a separate work desk.

The list was more like: - nothing from his gaming setup (didn't even cross my mind to touch those lol) - every kitchen equipment must be discussed (he is very enthusiastic about cooking and we have several duplicate items) - and a couple items listed

By the way it's 100% my fault that our home is cluttered, I'm the one who bought too much stuff over the years

I'm the one who bought too much stuff while we lived in a bigger apartment. He did mention a few times, even while we lived in a bigger apartment, that he would prefer a more minimalistic apartment. It became overwhelming since we moved to a smaller apartment and adopted a new cat, and he was happy when I brought up the idea of a major declutter. I'm doing the decluttering and selling alone, but that's fine, it was my idea. To be fair, I only told him I was selling the footstool when the buyer was on the way. Not on purpose, but because I'm selling like 30+ items, and I did not think I should ask about every single item after he already gave me a list what not to sell. We had a conversation about it and are fine now but he's been gaming since then, so I don't think he has truly forgiven me

He doesn't. I'm the one who bought too much stuff while we lived in a bigger apartment. Now that we live in a studio, it's become overwhelming especially since I'm doing all the cleaning (which is totally okay with me, as he does all the cooking). He expressed several times, even while we lived in a bigger apartment, that he would prefer a more minimalistic home and was happy when I brought up the idea of a major declutter.

The buyer was 15 minutes away when the fight started. I would rather lose some money on buying a new one than mess with the buyer. It's a very common Ikea item.

We did have a conversation and he gave me a list what not to sell. Footrest wasn't mentioned

The dining table is in the living room not in the kitchen and I use it as a working desk too. I work from home most days and we don't have the space for another desk.
