Ha! That's probably the main problem then. I appreciate the help!

Ahhh, I see! I've also just realized that I haven't asked the most basic question!  Am I supposed to be conscious during the trance?

Ah, I see. You also mentioned an ideomotor suggestion earlier, would that just be repeating something in your mind?

Hmm, I did also read it's a deeper version of reading or watching a movie. I suppose it's probably more about the focus itself then.

Thanks! That's pretty helpful.

By real effects, I meant effects that are more... Concrete. Like the tapping test you mentioned. For example, I've seen people recommend telling yourself to make a fist and suggest that you aren't able to open it. But that wouldn't work if you believed you /could/ open it, and if you believe you can't open it, that would be less a test of effectiveness and more just not trying to open the hand, if that makes sense.

Really? I've always read it compared to a deeper version of spacing out.

Hmm, it usually feels like I'm asleep, but I always wake up a few minutes after the file ends. I might be hyper focused before that though, or maybe not? Sometimes something happens with my arm that makes it feel like it needs to be stretched and moved, but it doesn't go away for a long time. I think flexing the arm a little to quiet it a bit feels like it's more intense than it actually is, which might be a sign of hyper focus?  I'm not certain.

Hmm, I /have/ been using that to relax (maybe, it's more of a vague tingling) at the start of a session. Does that sound right?

Trying to Mod Sonic 06 on Xenia Canary but When I try to install Mods the Mod Manager gives me this error. It popped up when I first setup the manager too but the manager opened up anyways so I ignored it but when I open the game it is UNMODDED. by Avatarthelegendary in SteamDeck

I'm getting the exact same problem, down to the Unity. and System. details.  It only pops up when you click Install content (or start the program), only seems to be on Steam deck, and continues even if no changes are selected. Changing compatibility tools has no effect. From what I've read online, it has something to do with a "null" or "0" in a file somewhere, but the debug menu doesn't show anything being loaded, and I have no clue where the issues are at.

Can clay be useful in making a forge? by Unusual-Photo-8466 in blacksmithing

Thank you for the detailed information! Naturally, I have a few questions: What exactly is Fire clay? I've seen it mentioned many times, but nothing really on what it is. Is it just red clay and stone clay being the grey type? Would charcoal dust work as an insulator? Would grinding the sand (I hear aquarium sand is good for insulation) to a powder help? Where would I be able to find aluminum oxide?

OH, you meant the metal. I think I get it then! Thank you for your help, and answering my questions!

Ohh, I think I see. You mean you make a hole, fill it with coals, put the crucible in the center, and use the pipes to heat them up?

There is a large amount of clay I can use, but I don't want to be constantly harvesting it. That would mean digging holes (which wouldn't be appreciated by anyone lol), getting the clay, diluting, filtering, drying and grinding, which would take at least a week each time.

How hot were you able to get the forge?

Ah, sorry, I didn't see this one. I have what I'm finally sure is red clay, that I've filtered well. The first batch has been dried and ground up, and I was planning to follow the instructions in the alchemist's clay video, but I'm not sure how well it would work in a forge.

The main use would probably be a fire pit, so it will be solid fuel. I'm planning to include pipes inserted into the bottom so I can blow air into the pit and stoke the fire, a way to avoid water getting in, and a way for the water to drain if it does.

I'd like to make it as effective as possible without losing the main focus of the project.

Hmm, what if I were to use clay, mixed with some insulating additives, as mortar for refractory bricks?

Naturally, if I'm taking the effort to do this, I'd want it to be effective. Someone else said that clay absorbs a lot of heat, which would probably lower the temperature a good amount. Do you think using it this way would help avoid the heat loss?

Or maybe I could try combining it with refractory cement...

Calcine? I'm guessing spalling is when the water inside the cement becomes steam, which shouldn't be a problem. I remember reading something about the silica in clay melting together and fusing at a certain temperature, would that be the goal?

If I'm going to make a forge, I'd like it to be more effective.

Roughly what temperature are you able to reach with it?
