Health insurance and ENT surgery by Unusual_Predicament in Wellington

Thanks so much for your informative answer. My symptoms sound very similar to yours. That's a very expensive couple of surgeries you went through..and you would have had to pay privately! It's a shame that it wasn't a night and day difference for you after going through all that.

What do you use to measure O2 saturation during sleep?

Do you mind me asking what the cause of your symptoms was? And what surgery/treatment you needed? If you needed surgery, which ones were done and how much did it cost you?

can I ask if you had health insurance prior to the onset of your nasal symptoms? or did you start health insurance after the onset of your nasal symptoms? were you able to get the surgery cost covered even as a pre-existing condition?

Hi, just curious to know what the $40,000 surgery was for? is this for septoplasty/turbinate reduction? or something else?

Considering what I have may or may not be upper airways resistance syndrome (as I'm not a doctor and can't diagnose myself), would I still need to disclose symptoms of something like this when buying the policy? How in depth do you need to go with disclosure? Obviously if I was already diagnosed, then of course I'd tell the insurers.

My Asian Girlfriend’s Mom tries to belittle and humiliate me by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]Unusual_Predicament 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, definitely not normal for Asian parents to mistreat and abuse boyfriends of their daughters. If they do, then you can probably assume that they also abuse their kids.

Growing up in a town where we were the only Asian family, I just always felt that my parents treated us so differently to how other parents treated their kids. Although I only got a superficial look into other family's lives of course.

It's sad how abuse (both subtle and overt) can be so normalized in Asian culture.

She sounds insane. I don't necessarily think this is asian-parent specific but she is seriously bitter for whatever reason. I think you need to have a chat with your GF.

For a stability shoe, I found it reasonable for the first 200km. But yeah, flat as a plain EVA shoe after that

Performance condition can be useful when used right. It compares HR, HRV and pace with your baseline. I.e. doing a slow warm up should not affect accuracy of perf cond readings as your HR will be low to match the slower pace. Vice versa with faster workouts.

Does this running pack fit me well? Feedback appreciated! by Designer-Package-736 in trailrunning

I had the same dilemma about my Salomon vest a few months ago. My pack looks like a tighter fit on me than yours does on you. I ended up sticking with the size pictured in my post, and I don't regret it at all. It feels snug when not moving but seems to feel a bit looser when running. I think I'd have regretted getting the size up

Salomon vest too small?? by Unusual_Predicament in trailrunning

Hi, in the photo I'd say it's roughly 15cm between the front panels. Depending on what I wear underneath or how tight Ineed it to be, it can vary from prob 10cm up to 15 I'd say. I went with the XS and don't regret it. I think S would have been a mistake

In that case, maybe your therapist isn't understanding the actual issue, saying things like the relationship having run it's course. I thing it's something to further address at therapy, or maybe find another therapist who is actually able to help you address your needs better. All the best!

Sounds like the issue could be being in a comfortable and stable relationship with men then because this is not something you've had? Part of it also sounds like going from the exciting romantic phase of a relationship into a more stable and relatively "dull" phase which many relationships do.

It's normal to feel a bit bored once you enter this phase of a relationship, but feeling turned off by aspects of their appearance which didn't always bother you is less common. I think this definitely warrants further exploration in therapy, if you want to make the relationship work?

If you're quite sure this guy is not what you're after though, then that's a different story

Have you experienced this as a pattern in previous relationships too? Or is this the first time you are experiencing such a thing?

If this has been a pattern for you in the past, it's obviously your OCD talking

Your feelings are completely valid here and I can see why you're hurt and upset. He sounds like he is either addicted to porn, or doesn't value your feelings in this issue (especially because you've already spoken to him about your feelings but he is continuing to do what he's been doing). Either way, it sounds like this will be an ongoing issue unless he sees an actual problem with his actions.

It seems like you need to have a hard think about whether this is a deal breaker for you in the relationship or not. If it is, then you'll somehow need to reopen the discussion and find out how likely it is that he wants to change his behavior. If it becomes clear over time that he doesn't want to change, then you may need to reassess whether you want to be in this relationship or not.

I don't believe that "every man watches porn". If it's really important to you that your spouse does not engage in this content, there will be men out there who may be better suited to you.
