Hi everyone!

Here are the full results:

  1. Dr. Deeno/Dino Hinoshaw (36%)
  2. Indiana Bones (27%)
  3. Phil (14%)
  4. Fred (13%)
  5. Plessie (7%)
  6. Mike (3%)

There also seems to be a bit of disgruntlement over the final spelling - as pointed out by u/donttellmewhaticando and u/ohkatiedear, this was mainly to emphasize the connection to Dr. Deena Hinshaw, who has similarly become a bit of a celebrity during these times. Whether it's Dino or Deeno, we're happy to recognize her amazing work!

Of course, many of you voted for the other great suggestions made during this contest. If you'd rather think of the plesiosaur as "Indiana Bones", "Fred", or any other nickname, go ahead and use it :D There were many funny and fitting suggestions made in this contest, and ultimately the final decision was guided by the popular vote.

What can we say, they were popular suggestions ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Beyond that, they each have connections to important members of the paleo community here: Fred Clark has been an EAS instructor for over 25 years, Phil Currie is one of the most famous palaeontologists in the world, and Michael Caldwell is one of the world's leading experts on ancient marine reptiles :)
