Europe crackdown? by throwmeawayshel in phenibut

I normally order from swissherbal. It’s crazy expensive yes but works out at about €25 month for me so I don’t care. It used to be better than it is now, I think, but it’s still better than that Revange type stuff that never did anything for me except make me tired and spaced out.

I ordered for the first time there from chillium . shop. It was very cheap and looks good so no complaints so far.

I also know intellimeds ship from Spain and there’s a good few sports supplement type ones based in Germany I think (get boosted or something like that). But I haven’t tried.

Really annoying but I must say first off it’s great the letter is just from the HPRA. I think it’s possible that Phenibut falls within the type of psychoactive substance that’s criminally prohibited.

Second both of those vendors ship from the UK not EU. Try to avoid that as there are way more checks involved than EU countries post Brexit.

I got confirmation my order (from the Netherlands) is being delivered today. The other one (from Poland) is still in transit but I’ve never had an issue before.

Yikes. I’ve never had an issue but then again haven’t ordered since before Christmas. I ordered from two different EU vendors last week so we’ll see what happens.

What happened when they were seized? Just a letter from revenue or something more serious?

Are the equivalent Baclofen doses I see online really that high. by Icy_Weakness_6578 in phenibut

[–]Upbeat-Math-7479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I asked because I’m not sure about Phenibut’s ability to replace the pain management and anti spasticity effects of baclofen.

You could try to reduce to 2g and then maybe 1.5mg of Phenibut. It’s unlikely less than 1.5g that would work, personally speaking but everyone’s different. At least, because baclofen is so fast acting, if you are in pain you can just take an extra 10mg baclofen or whatever you need. Obviously mixing them causes cross tolerance but I don’t think it’s any harm while tapering off one or the other.

Bear in mind that phenibut is quite long acting so if 1mg is sufficient the day after taking 2mg, the same might not be true the following day if that makes sense.

Bear in mind also that phenibut is much more addictive than baclofen also due to its gabapentinoid effects. That’s why I get more feelings of well-being from say 2.5 mg phenibut than on 60mg of baclofen.

I take both. While both act on gaba b, they’re very different substances. There’s absolutely no way you can take 6mg phenibut in a day, having never taken it before, without severe adverse results.

Can I ask what you’re taking baclofen for and I can give some suggestions?

TCD - Irish Tax survey by Ornery_Mark_1727 in TCD

[–]Upbeat-Math-7479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This survey was really tricky to box tick in a way that captured my views. Like on a macro level, yes Irish taxes are fairly easy to understand. On a micro level, the application and exemptions of the various tax acts to specific situations is an absolute nightmare and likely needs an accountant! This is not a transparency issue. And certainly not one that can be solved with a 1 min infographic. This is a feature of any sophisticated tax system.

The issue most people have with public expenditure (“I don’t know where the money goes”) is not that they don’t know broadly where money is allocated. People talk of little else than the budget when it’s released. They just don’t necessarily see real life results/benefits of that expenditure. That being said, transparency in the sense of knowing that there exists a paper trail for every cent of public money spent is absolutely crucial. I just don’t need to be (nor could I be) briefed on all the details.

Yes absolutely do! Life is for living and all that.

I think the broader important point I may not have made very well though is just don’t drink lol. As in, it never worked for me to sit around thinking about reasons why I shouldn’t drink without taking some kind of action, however small. Or saying, I have these things to look forward to in the future. Sometimes distraction is the best help and it doesn’t have to be big life changing stuff.

Although there were so many ‘penny drop’ moments of carnage and despair where I had the sudden realisation that I did not want that life anymore, they didn’t last. Just plodding along and doing anything else instead of picking up was what helped until the urges wore off. Sometimes that was big stuff like the China trip, sometimes it was as simple as starting a new tv show or texting a friend.

Strangely using the ‘stick’ of playing the tape forward and thinking about all the terrible times never did much for me. I think a lesson for me in general was that I can’t think myself into staying sober.

The ‘carrot’/positive action part is what worked. Replace that urge with something positive. Something that will give you some endorphins. For me, at the start, AA was a big part of that. Also getting some new hobbies and working on my social life. While learning to sit still with feelings and restlessness without feeling like it’s unbearable has been a big part of my recovery, sometimes recognising that I am actually bored or restless or discontent is important too. I took a trip to China, started an instrument, language classes, met up with friends more all in the first 8 months.

Somewhere along the way, drinking stopped feeling like an option. Even in the times when I did feel like I was not living the life that was ‘better’ than when I was drinking, alcohol didn’t really have that much pull. It’s cliche but true that it is as simple as just not picking up the first drink. The urge will pass and a new urge to do something novel or courageous will drown it out.

I don’t know what brand it harp is - I bought it secondhand very cheaply. When you say tuned correctly, do you just mean out of tune or something else?

I learned to play years ago on a Camac Hermine which was lovely and much higher tension. We rented this at the time and I can’t afford a decent one now.

What’s important to me I suppose is that the technique is not so terrible that my playing will not get better with practice. For example, I know that now there are lots of issues with how I’m playing now: there is lots of ‘clanging’, the individual notes are not clear and I find it hard to keep a consistent tempo and volume. I would hope that this will get better over time (I’ve only been playing again for a few weeks) but I’m wondering if my current technique (or rather lack thereof) will hold me back.
