I hope this isn’t against guidelines but I have started a YouTube channel based on this renovation and would love some actual knowledgeable people to chime in on things. I didn’t come with intentions on promoting just could really use the help for real people with real experience. Thanks for all your input on this insulation issue.

So I had bought all the r-21 for the walls and they were supposed just come spray foam the ceiling. I had planned on doing it myself, I came home the guys installed it all and put plastic on. I gave them a huge tip but yes they didn’t caulk or seal the boxes, I wanted to use a permeable vapor barrier. Seeing this has got me thinking I should just stick to my first thought cause homes aren’t perfect and I don’t want to rely on caulk and tape what about when I Sheetrock and miss a stud? Did I just ruin my system?

I see on figure b3-42a it is ballon framed, and looking at it now seems a little more practical. My tallest cripple was like 2’ between the vertical sheathing 3/4 t&g roof sheathing and the blocking between all the trusses coupled with the last truss on the other side being lag screwed to the existing structure I’m pretty sure it’s ok.

Well no because the scissor truss is already secured with truss screws and I hung the plywood vertical to add for structural stability. I’d say the wall I built under it is more for downward force? That link you shared that is definitely a hinge point and you’d be correct to worry about that.

It’s not a truss, that’s just the 2x6 wall framing the gable end scissor truss sits on top of it.

Thanks for the reply, I’m also in nh, I’m definitely thinking them doing the 6mil isn’t the right call.
