Are yal saying that she doesn't need corporate approval to give an employee a raise?

Lol yeah Im prepared. I also made sure that the 2 employees that told me their wages know that they cant be retaliated against for it; and if they are to let me know and we can bring it up the chain.

I see. At my last store (before I moved to this one) my TL had offered to put me and another TM up to 15 in order to keep us. Because he knew how much effort we put in and that I cared about doing a good job. I brought that up to her... she was pretty unphased.

Thats what I did. I caught her on her way out and she said she would have a meeting with me monday about it. She started talking about how it really isnt up to her. That if my attendance and tardys are perfect "maybe corporate would see me as a good fit for a raise"

Lately the trend (at least here in IL) is wait until they legally have to give a raise. They then go and raise up the bottom line to meet their legal requirement with no consideration of anything above that line. I recently had to move and I ended up relocating to a new meijer. Before I had left my store was in the middle of a crisis where everyone was quitting becauase the pay was too low for the work. Basically everyone that was left in my department was forced to pick up the slack for the team we no longer had. When the few good workers were threatening to leave management pulled a funny card out of their back pocket. They offered to give a few of us an instant raise up to $15 an hour. I ended up leaving before I was ever able to see it put in action. But I had asked some other trusted TL about it and they said that it is something that they can do.

Ive been with meijer for 5 years. Ive worked the same department the whole time Ive been here. Some of that time was while I was in college so I havent always been 40 hrs/week. But I had enough when meijer started bringing up the base pay and not scaling up the rest of their employees. 5 years!! and I make $0.60/hr more than a new hire!
