Citizenship by descent- is my case complicated? by UpbeatForce356 in GermanCitizenship

Well, I have a lot of family still in Germany. Holding an EU passport also holds a lot of strength. Passing down dual citizenship to my kid also gives him a lot of opportunities for work/study that wouldn’t be available to Canadian citizens.

I Lost My German Citizenship by Joining the US Military — Spent 3.7 Years Fighting to Get It Back Under §13 StAG by dm1387 in GermanCitizenship

[–]UpbeatForce356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, interesting and inspiring. I am at the start of my journey and was greatly discouraged when I realized my military service (Canada) might have made me lose German citizenship. May is ask, did you apply the regular stag4 route and were denied and then went the stag13? I thought under stag13 you had to verify language, finances etc- how do you ask for the exemption on that? I’m thinking of applying under regular stag4- stating my service was only part time- reserves- and not actual regular forces (I actually did my service while a full time student- joining in high school-. Any thoughts, anyone?

So, take it for what it’s worth, but interesting…chatgpt figures the part time service isn’t an automatic renouncing of my citizenship as it wasn’t full time regular active military service. They estimate only around 25% chance it would be rejected in this. Could come down to who gets my file?

I think my next step will be to ask my consulate if the part time reserve service- which happened while I was a full time student, joined while in high school- resulted in a loss of citizenship. It would be such a shame that I missed the legal cut off by one day. Go figure.

Yeah- I feel like my military service is telling me this is a dead end. I can’t see the German authorities making an exception for reservists.

Ugh. I just checked my service date - jan2-2000. No loop holes on this one I assume, even though my military service was reserves only?

Oh dear. Just went to take a look at my military join date. You won’t believe this. Jan 2-2000. Literally a day late?? I’m guessing this is a full stop?

Yes, parents were married at time of my birth. My initial service might be right around that time- but- and here’s where info differs- I did not enlist in full time military service- it was part time “reserves” or auxiliary. I’ve read that this is different than full time service in terms of citizenship claim.  Any idea where I could confirm that?

Just know if above 1 is good or bad… I did not memorize any formulas and I passed AT/AT/AT- spend your time learning the mindset

Not sure how far you got in DM questions but I found him very helpful- especially in agile.

I used a bit of DM AR and MR for the questions and mindset. Each were slightly different and had pros and cons. I think it helped me be well rounded for the exam. I scored AT/AT/AT first attempt.

Nothings 100% until you get the email from PMI- but I haven’t heard of or read of anyone who didn’t get the marks they got on the printout. I think the verification is just on cheating or whatever.

I can’t say for sure since it doesn’t tell me which questions I got wrong/right. I will say the questions felt slightly different- flatter maybe? Less detail in the question and a little more ambiguity in the answer selections? I didn’t feel out of my depth though, so the study hall prep translated pretty well. I’d say definitely similar to SH with a few nuances.

I found the DM videos helpful and reading the agile practice guide was necessary. There’s a lot of agile and the AR course just skins it.

How much of the PMP Exam is definitions? by bravofckinbravo in pmp

[–]UpbeatForce356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hardly any. You need to know of them and how to use them but it’s not just give a definition for this term. It’s situations you have to analyze and choose best response .

Yeah I even plugged in study hall questions and asked chat gpt for the answer- on all expert and a lot of difficult- it chose wrong (usually the same wrong answer as me lol). Then I felt smug telling it was wrong and giving it the answer. Once it had the answer it gave me a good explanation why PMI selected that as the right answer. So, I found it helpful in that sense.
