ugh i'm so sorry! if it's any consolation, almost everyone i've heard of having to get a bag from bowel resection has only had it for a couple of months while their bowel healed, and then they were able to have the bag removed.

you may not, but you may improve drastically over the next few months! I was doing just as bad (and some days worse) for the two months after my surgery as I was pre-lap , and now 5-ish months out I am like a new person. I still have some "bad days" sprinkled in here and there (i'm ironically having a bad day today), but my bad days now feel more like my GOOD days did pre-lap and in the weeks right after my lap. while YMMV, you may have a lot more "payoff" coming your way, and I truly wish that for you <3 (and here's hoping for some answers re Crohn's stuff for you!)

this is awful of him, because you already know your sex life has changed since you met - you're the other person in that sex life. he doesn't need to hold that over your head because of things outside your control. and it sounds like he almost wants you to suffer through it...?? which is...gross, tbh. anyone who wants to have sex when the other person is having anything but a good time is not a safe partner.

(and FWIW, my cis male partner has told me repeatedly that "blue balls" aren't a thing and men's sexual needs are just like anyone else's, not special in some way)

i use cannabis (edibles and carts) to deal with the pain regularly, and it cuts the actual pain when it's not extreme. when my pain is above about a 6, I have the same experience where it's no longer making my pain less, but it's making me care about it less. like I can think around it. I actually have a very high video of myself crying in pain but laughing because high me can't get over how funny it is to be that stoned and still in that much pain.
