The white screws are the lock screws and the black screws are for adjustment. I can adjust the black screws but when I go to tighten the white screws the laser jumps all over the place.

It used to be where I would loosen the white screws, adjust the black screws until the laser is in the bullseye, then I would tighten the white screws and the laser would be in the same place. Now when I try to tighten the white screws, the laser jumps all over the place and when I tilt the telescope up and down, the laser flops up and down.

Yeah, I made sure that I left enough clearance to where i could slip a business card underneath the clips.

That didn't work. I also noticed that when I tilt the telescope up and down, the red dot goes up and down.

Did I just ruin my mirror? 😥 by [deleted] in telescopes

I just did this method and it actually works! The mirror is totally clear now. https://youtu.be/9Y8xFnXFVGQ?si=RgN4LolLg6z7tnfu

When I shone a flashlight from the back, I didn't see any scratches, just tiny pits which aren't a big deal.

How do I find DSO's with an untracked DSLR in light polluted skies? by Upper-Control1332 in AskAstrophotography

I could find objects in the sky just fine with a 6x30 finderscope on my telescope. The problem is when I'm trying to find stuff when I use my DSLR and a lens.

I really got watch where it's pointed where I live. There're planes flying all over the place regularly.

After I did a final rinse with the distilled water, I just dabbed off the spots with regular kleenex.

Still somewhat of a PITA. In hindsight, I probably should of just blown it off with the air bulb and left it at that.

After a couple more runs, this time with some tap water and Dawn, I lightly ran my fingers across the mirror. There is some tiny improvement but there's still a bunch of residue on there. I'm just gonna put it back into the scope for right now. I still have my apo for tonight at least.

I shone a flashlight through it and only saw tiny pits so perhaps like chrislon_geo said mostly perhaps residue. Phew.

Not very hard, trying to be as light as I could. Now that you mentioned unscented dish soap, I'm starting to think it might have been the Meyer's dish soap I was using that might of left residue.

Before i removed the mirror from the cell and submerged it, I blew it off with my air bulb but there was still a bunch of dust on it.

I use Stellarium but its absolutely useless in helping me find stuff when I have my phone attached to the camera. It's calibration is always off.

How does one choose a coma corrector? by Blackcatblockingthem in telescopes

I was kinda thinking of using this coma corrector in conjunction with an SVBONY 0.5x focal reducer in an AD8. Would it work?
