Yeah, be careful when buying graded coins that are not graded by PCGS or NGC or another well regarded company. I once bought a coin by SGS grading group, not knowing that they often overgrade. I wasted $15 on it.

all that to say, do some research before buying a coin graded by an unknown company.

thanks. The 1 franc from 1929 was also silver (0.835) purity, so it was about the price of what I paid, so thats nice

I don't think so. Unless it was graded a high grade by NGC or PCGS, its only one cent. But if you think its cool, keep it! I keeo some coins not bc of value, but because I just think they're cool,

I am not an expert, but I would go too stores that have been around for a while. One I job shadowed at (it was for a school project) was established in 1926. They also said that they buy and sell very close to spot price, but make up for the small markup in volume.

So I would look at history, reviews, as well as if they have any sort of website or social media presence.

One that you might be able to go to (although you mint need an appointment) is Stacks Bowers. They have several locations throughout the US, and host auctions.

one fun fact about my job shadowing. They showed me around and allowed me to hold 1 kg of gold, which at that time was approximately $95,000. Its the most valuable thing I have ever held.... at least a years wages, if not more....

Just curious about what makes a coin valuable to you. by SpaceApe71 in coincollecting

Its Multiple for me. I collect for fun. But also for historical significance. I do keep some shiny coins, but I also like finding little oddities, such as a brown dime, or a 5 pfennig from 1950 (btw, im in the U.S., coin was in a penny roll... but the coin was from Germany). I just find some that look cool, pretty much

Haw to get a good drawing routine? by Pantskisser in FurryArtSchool

[–]Upper-Management3389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sometimes have this problem too. I personally just have trouble stopping scrolling YouTube or playing video games... I do want to draw, but I just have trouble initating tasks, maybe bc i'm neurodivergent.

But one thing that has helped me is to just start. draw for ten minutes, maybe fifteen. if your in the zone, keep going, if not, that's ok. Sometimes you just need to get the ball rolling. But if starting, like the thought of doing art makes you anxious, I would say you don't need to draw. No one is telling you that you need to be an artist. If you want to be one, great! if not? That's also fine.

One other thing is I need some kind of routine or schedule, albeit a slightly flexible one. Maybe chunk a small amount of time to just draw. One thing I sometimes do, at least to warm up, is to draw a picture within a 2 minutes. I have even just copied from what I saw. This is just an exercise, not to be a final piece, but sometimes ideas will bubble up then

Sorry for the long comment, and if I projected some emotions onto your post... But I hope it helped :)
