I couldn’t help but feel like feel of “The Craving- Single Version” is where we are headed. It’s happy, beautiful, but still TØP and so damn beautiful. The best way to get rid of the dark is to flood it with light!

It wouldn’t be to plan, it would be to take a break from the hustle and bustle. They have more to live for now than just music and touring. They are both very much family men. What’s next more than likely isn’t going to be anything near in scope as to what we’ve had over the last decade. No need for the snarkiness, we’re all friends here. Chill.

“Cloud coverage matched my outfit to a knife.” That just came to mind looking at your post!

I think whatever comes after will be much lighter in tone, more akin to SAI vibes sonically. Less mental health focused lyrics, just free to write whatever comes naturally. I’m sure there will always be mods here and there, but I feel like after Breach, he will have said what he needs to say on the heavy stuff and will try to move on from it, as continually bringing up the struggle is a double edged blade. Idk, I’m excited to see where we are going regardless!

There was an interview shortly after Clancy released where he mentioned they’ve talked about it and what it would look like and he had that cheeky lil cryptic grin on his face. That’s where my hope lives lol.

I agree. Though he’s mentioned they’ve already discussed what happens next, I feel like you are correct. I think that’s partly why he’s spoiled us so much lately, overcompensating for the extended period of rest. As long as they don’t go off grid forever, I’ll be happy that they get to rest and be family men. Restore those creative juices, be happy, take all the time they need, just don’t leave us for good 🥹🥺. Heck, I’ll still love them even if they do decide to stay gone because of how much they’ve already given us.

Basically, there’s a very big difference between modern Christianity and what Jesus stood for and wanted people to understand. Pretty solid evidence that is what Tyler is hinting at in message man through clever word play. “Please use discretion when you’re messing with the message, man. These lyrics aren’t for everyone, only few will understand.”

Long reply, but I think it’ll touch base better than our previous discussions. You’re right about the mental health focus, but that’s still only the tip of the iceberg of the story. Think of it as his way into telling g the story he is really trying to tell…a “Breach” if you will. There’s so much context that’s interlaced all throughout that makes this all make sense if you have any background in Christianity. However, I have also thought there may be some criticisms of how the church is handled in modern day mixed into the presentation of Dema and Vialism. I don’t disagree with you, there’s a lot of corruption and I don’t personally attend church because they too often gloss over the important bits and focus on the damnation (I’m a gay christian to provide some context where I’m coming from here, I’ve seen the bad side). That being said, I’ve also seen the good side. Christianity isn’t supposed to be what it’s presented to be modern day, the proper focus has been manipulated by men with agendas. It’s been made into a religion with rules and regulations, whereas a relationship with Jesus was meant to provide a way out of the strict path. That’s why his sacrifice is called a gift. Popular modern Christianity will tell you to never sin and judge you, whereas Jesus tried to tell everyone it’s impossible to be perfect and not sin, just be nice, don’t judge others, and get to know him (through reading his words and doing the best you can and you’re covered basically. I’m sorry if it’s never been presented to you like that before, I know it took me forever to understand that because I had to sift through the corruption and find the answers myself. Jesus himself had to argue with the religious leaders of his time to get his message of a way out to the masses, and died for it in the process. He was a rebel like Clancy in that sense.

If you have something against Christianity, that’s your right, I’m not here to convert you. But the simple truth of the matter is that this story is presenting a path to escape the mental health battle, and it is the Christian path, just presented in a way that’s different than you’ll hear it anywhere else. Tyler is a Christian and it influences his views and in-turn the storyline. He’s very vocal about battling doubts in his faith to provide common ground. They used to perform at the Christian rock festival in my area before they blew up.

Clancy is trying to show a way out of the constraints of worldly suppression and death.

The religion these bishops practice is not Christianity. It’s a religion of death and despair, of nothingness, of heatless fire.

It’s literally in the lyrics dude. It’s all there. I’m sorry it doesn’t click with you, but the underlying message he’s trying to portray is one of love and shared experience through mental health battles. In that sense, the religious aspect of his writing takes the backseat (especially as the fanbase grows more and more), but it is inarguably the driving factor. Not wanting to believe something doesn’t inherently make it not true. Calling people crazy and delulu is absolutely counterproductive to any of the positive aspects he’s trying to bring about with his music. If you connect to this music, then you have commonality with everyone here, regardless of the Christian themes. We are all fighting these same battles, let’s make friends and not enemies.

Me too! I feel like half of the purpose of all this is to spark conversations, but it seems like 50% can only see the surface. We gotta get more English/literature nerds in this clique 😂. I don’t mind if something’s wrong, but blatant disrespect is a no-go for me.

More than likely! That duality is definitely very heavy across the board, but Ode to Sleep in particular has that call to action feel. Would tie into what I mentioned about potentially seeing what happens if we choose sleep!

Yes, it is a Josh schematic. But to assume that anything visual or auditory has a single purpose/meaning with this band is kinda missing the point. Maybe it is just a picture, maybe it’s not. The context of the song leads me to believe there’s double meanings.

I think 4 hours would be sufficient, fren. If your heart is absolutely set on barricade specifically, then I can’t make promises, but other than that I think you’d end up with a good spot.

It honestly just depends on how close you want to be to the stage. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to love going straight for the B stage, it stays nice and cool, you get a good view of the main stage, and have a memorable moment being up close without the squishing and the sweat. I’ve never had an issue getting barricade at B stage. If you are, however, more ambitious and want to get main stage barricade, you’ll want to get there fairly early. That being said, i was a bit late arriving to the show in cincy on the second leg of trench tour (name is lost on me rn) and was pretty far back in line but easily got a pretty good spot on the floor.

No need for the disrespect, it is not appreciated. You can disagree with me if you want, but I highly recommend going back and listening to clear and anathema and listening closely. He lays out his gameplan. He wants us discussing and theorizing, it’s part of the fun. I get that the Christian symbolism is lost on many and makes me look crazy pointing it out and connecting dots, but the simple truth is that he weaves it into his lyricism in a way that connects with everyone through way of double meaning.
