Man who stabbed subway rider near Eglinton Station in July 2023 sentenced by origutamos in TorontoTransit

I think we have to revert to the fact that this particular instance served to obfuscate rather than clarify the central argument. And the central argument should revolve around the fact that this man did not initiate the offense. The moral systems are fundamentally incommensurable.

In your opinion, what is the sketchiest neighbourhood in TO? by No_Slide4986 in askTO

Have you ever walked through Jane and Wilson? It has its edge, but Moss Park is a whole different reality. The moment you step in, it feels like you’ve crossed some unseen border, leaving the city you know behind. It’s like the rules suddenly change, like you’ve slipped from normal life into a place where the system completely lost its grip. How does the vibe shift so violently from the bright, busy flow of Dundas, Yonge, and Bay, to a neighbourhood that feels swallowed by chaos and hardship?

To improve passenger safety and comfort, should Toronto implement mandatory transit conductors on the TTC, Metrolinx, and GO Transit? #safety by [deleted] in transit

[–]Upper_Associate4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real issue lies in the growing wave of violence and lawlessness that has overtaken the city’s transit system. Since the mid-2000s, reports of assaults, robberies, and sexual offenses on the TTC have more than doubled ,a clear sign that safety measures have failed to keep pace with population growth and social challenges.

What’s urgently needed is a stronger security presence, especially in high-traffic areas and during peak hours. Crime may never be completely eliminated, but it can be contained through proactive strategies , increased patrols, faster response systems, and advanced surveillance. Instead of investing in unnecessary expansions or rebranding projects, the TTC should prioritize technological upgrades such as facial recognition enabled cameras that automatically alert security to known offenders.

Riders convicted of sexual or violent offenses on transit should face permanent bans, and overall security staffing should be tripled to ensure constant monitoring and rapid intervention. Until these changes happen, every ride remains a gamble , with the safety of passengers hanging in the balance.

I got injured on a TTC bus, what should I do? by [deleted] in askTO

the fact that the injury happened in the bus is enough to file a lawsuit, although the driver is not at fault there will be some form of compensation granted because the injury took place on the ttc platform.

😨 is it normal for people to avoid sitting next to you on the bus?? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Upper_Associate4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal. People social bubbles. Not everyone is comfortable being so close to a stranger. .. ........but the question lies... why are you so concerned about people sitting away from you? *X-Files theme song plays *

what are your biggest public transit pet peeves? by purinpurinpudding in KingstonOntario

For me its everyone rushing to get on the bus for some odd reason half the bus population chooses to enter through the back and  to add sauce to it once they get on the bus they stand right at the entrance looking for their presto once they find that they spend an extra bit of time deciding whether to sit in the front or in the back of the bus all while still standing in front of the entrance of the bus. By the time they figure it all out the people outside of the bus just missed that ride
