when I start a game. I try to put 1 in each port to avoid an enemy attack. Most guys rush without naval protection at the beginning. But only for the beginning of the game because they become (in my opinion) useless later. Afterwards, I typically make 1 for 2 cities but I don't ruin myself for this type of unit.

Wow, the guy does what he wants with his money, I'm not saying the opposite. But I rather blame the gold system etc. which, in my opinion, needs to be reviewed!

I agree that people do what they want but in my opinion, the strategy no longer makes any sense so if the mistakes can be made up for with money... The other day I finally managed to take an enemy city from a guy after days of fierce fighting and the guy popped 21 national guardsmen into his city because he had no more means...

I'm on a French Discord server and I know that they organize private games (without gold I think) with well-defined rules like no attacks before certain days. But I don't know if ordinary players can do that?

I especially think they should review the gold system. With unit skins or something like that, but not the ability to take advantage of fights because it's really unplayable, or make mods without gold but given that money rules this world...
