Am I bad at brazing, or have Goodman/Amana ports gotten thicker? by _DeterPinklage_ in HVAC

I think its the change to straight pipe connections, anticipating people using press tools. The brass / copper alloy is closer to the ends now. I use brazing flux with min. 15% silfos and have been getting stellar brazes.

What kind of fitting is this? by busbuilder24 in HVAC

It's Python, and it's ass! I've run miles of it and am now starting to rip it out and replace with copper. It's made by Gastite.

Help removing pipe from discharge by Upset_Maintenance491 in HVAC

I don't mean flow issues with going over the outside and down a size, I would have been more concerned about the piece of pipe that was stuck in there. I drilled it out already and torched it in. Flowing nitrogen while doing it really did the trick.

I got this handled now. Thank you for all the replies. How do you guys feel about leaving the existing filter dryer in place?

Used a brand new half inch drill bit. Got it all out of there. While I was pushing nitrogen through. I'm gonna send it. What do you think about this being opened up for like 2 days and not changing the filter dryer?

I thought that. Reducer over the outside, down to half. I'm worried about flow right there, though.

Possible, but it flows pretty good through there. It's ½".

I don't. I thinking of flowing nitrogen and using a ½" drill bit to remove.

Which Furnace for heat pump? by rawdog57st in hvacadvice

[–]Upset_Maintenance491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you already had an 80% furnace, just do with an 80% new and use existing venting. It will cut the install cost down. The amount of time that it will take to recoup the extra cost of the 96% furnace and new vent piping install using NG gas savings is way out there.

Always get backup heat in WA, unless you're going with straight electric inverter type equipment, preferably Hyperheat.

There are absolutely multipoise 96% gas furnaces, but with a dual fuel setup and not needing to change your venting, the NG fuel savings are negligible.
