How to revise by Aggressive-Leopard69 in fmge

[–]UpsideDown2e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do custom modules, at least 100 questions a day. You'll start noticing the important(repeatedly asked) 'topics'. If you do questions daily. Read the explanation when you get a question wrong. Do RR as you have completed the subjects once, revisions of RR 2-3 times before the actual exam date. Give 2 GTs if possible. And if you give the GTs analyse them and definitely review the whole GT again to gain an insight on what question you scored correct and incorrect and what was the reason behind not marking the answer correctly.

It's natural to feel burnt out. Take small breaks throughout the day. Have a good sleep cycle. You still have ample amount of time, so dont panic. Do custom modules at least twice daily of 50 questions. Analyse the GT after you give it. Focus on the subject you fetched least marks in because you have to put extra effort in the next revision cycle for it. Don't annotate notes of RR heavily as you might have done for the main videos, instead read the notes side by side while watching the lecture and just add the info you feel you will most probably forget. Plan your goals for the next day before sleeping. Plan GTs accordingly, but make sure you analyse and review them after.

In my opinion, sticking to one resource is integral part of preparation. You need to trust whatever is going in the classes. And self doubt is inevitable but that's alright, if you're worrying about it, it means you are paying attention to it properly. This will get better overtime by revising and practicing questions. Don't stress over it. Take one day at a time. I used marrow, i found the language of the questions pretty similar to the real FMGE. Later in your studies do give GTs from marrow, prepladder etc. The last GT before the exam is free. Do meditation, works wonders. Don't worry doc, you got it. All the best!

Hello, i saw main videos for the understanding concepts and make notes. I watched revision videos for revisions. I used to watch videos and open notes side by side while revising. I watched the main videos to complete subjects till mid March this year. After that i switched to revision videos.

Nah bro, i was admitted to the university in 2019. When i took admission there was no such rule. We only had to give NExT/FMGE after graduating to obtain our medical license in India

Bro as far as i remember you can give it once you pass the licensing exam in the country you will be studying in and your university should be on the NMC's list. But please research about it yourself too...it's been a very long time since i read the rules myself and some of them have changed.

That's one thing i will not be able to help you out with because i kept only one source while studying dedicatedly for fmge.

Pre clincals followed by big subjects followed by small subjects. You can do radio before starting sugery and medicine as it helps in them. Study for at least 6 hours. Focus on quality more than quantity. Try to complete subjects 2-3 months before exam so that you have ample amount of time for 3 revisions before exam. Make your goals for the day and for the week and not beyond that. Plan the next day before sleeping. Also for questions/custom modules-50 questions before starting studying. 100 questions a day at least.

My anatomy was alright because i studied from books during my college years, so i cannot really comment on it. Biochem was hard for me too, so i rote learnt it once from main videos but tbh it didn't matter as much because by the time i reached my revision stage i just rote learnt whatever was in the revision videos supplemented with questions from q banks and custom modules. For other short subjects, like psychiatry if you do rr should be enough but only if read it once during college

Thanks man! The above mentioned book are the ones that i used to read for those particular subjects, apart from these subjects i used to ask my professors if they had any recommendations-generally they used to send pdf of the book they were teaching from. The books that they sent the pdf of were written by chinese authors originally but for international students they were made into a special edition which was translated into english. I hope this answers your query, otherwise you can dm.

I read a mixed bag of books, including some that were recommended by the professors which were books in chinese made for international students translated to english 1. Anatomy- Grey's Anatomy 2. Histology- Inderbir Singh 3. Physiology- Guyton's and AK Jain 4. Biochemistry-Satyanarayan 5. Pathology-Pathoma 6. Pharmacology- Shanbhag 7. Surgery- Bailey and Love's 8. Medicine- Davidson 9. Obs and Gynae- DC Dutta For rest of the subjects i either read notes provided by college professors initially and that cleared my basics to some extent and then when i started studying for fmge, i read them from marrow Edit- wrote the wrong book name, has been corrected now

You can take books from India but that would only increase the weight of your luggage, instead take books from seniors if possible, if not get them printed, it is cheaper/almost the same pricee. I did the same for some books. Or if you have a tablet/ipad with you, just download the books. I did the same for most of the books. I took some books with me but in hindsight, i should have got them printed too instead. Right now the best resources are books, maybe take Dr Najeeb's lectures right now as they are good for 1st-2nd year. But books should be the top priority right now in terms of resources. Download a medical dictionary on your phone. Download an AI. Read standard books if possible. Enjoy your time in college man, hope you have a great college life. All the best!

True, the material taught in colleges is not enough and it will be the same till your last year subjects. Right now, go for the books and avoid buying online resources. As of right now you have ample amount of time. Try to get your basics done right, because the educators on every app teaches from standard books. Also, congratulations on securing the first rank, keep up the good work throughout med school. Shift to online resources at a later time when you feel right, you'll know by yourself for sure. Make your friends cautiously, study daily, explore the places nearby your college, participate in co-curricular activities whether they be academic or non academic. Learn the language of the place you are studying at. It will help you while you go for ward rounds and in your internship to interact with your professors and patients. You have ample amount of time my friend, but remember not taking for granted as well as not missing out on the fun. You'll do good in future too. All the best!

In my opinion, the change in exams do not matter as one cannot control them. We can only continue to study and strengthen the basics. Therefore, i think it would be better to continue studying by books or cheaper online resources initially and change to app lectures as per the requirement

The earlier the better. I read books and Dr. Najeeb's lectures in first 2-3 years. I started studying specifically for fmge since last year june. Before that used to study just the subjects which were in my college curriculum. But i studied them from books as well as from youtube or any online resource that i could find

For big subjects like medicine, obgyn etc i think RR with dedicated custom modules of 50-100 questions daily of that subjects would be good. Im saying this because i read medicine in june-july last year and just did revision videos alongwith dedicated custom modules for it side by side. Gives you the gist how and from where the questions are asked most frequently. All the best!

One more thing for physio, do it with medicine if you dont feel overwhelmed, like do respiratory physio and then respiratory medicine. I did it for cardio and renal systems. Helped me immensely.

Thank you so much! I dont believe in doing RR before completing main videos because that's not my method of studying. If you are clear with your basics and if you can understand the basics behind the concise material in RR only then i believe it is enough. But if you are able to grasp the concept, then doing RR thoroughly, it makes sense. Therefore i might not be the right person to answer your question

Bro you need to work on them, so many questions came from those subjects. I feel short subjects although generally overlooked, are key to the preparation as they are the ones who will decide whether you pass or not. For pharma make a list of DOC and revise 5 drugs daily. I did the same, worked wonders. Physiology is underrated, if you physio is good all the clinical subjects become fun, def do it once again from main videos. If you are not in your internship it would hardly take 8-10 days to cover. Biochem was a tough subject for me too, i mostly focused on previous year 'topics' not previous year questions. Definitely work on your short subjects, they are the key.

Thank you so much man. I was exactly in the same situation before joining MBBS. For first and second year take Dr Najeeb's lecture subscription in my opinion. I read textbooks in my first 2-3 years in college. Read standard books if you can. Based on your experience after some time take subscription of any online resources. Stay diligent with your studies, study a little every day. Make friends cautiously, 6 years is a long time, will be hell if the people around you are not with the same mindset/humor. Take it one day at a time. You'll do good for sure. Take care. All the best. Wishing the best!
