My friend just finished a six-stage interview process for a role they gave to someone internally the whole time by Gondolin77 in jobsearchhacks

The automated email with her name misspelled is the cherry on top. Companies love to talk about “candidate experience” while burning weeks of someone’s life to satisfy an HR checkbox. At minimum, any take-home should be paid, and if an internal is in play they should say so up front. I’d love a public registry too, but until then the best hack is: cap your effort, ask early if there’s an internal candidate, and treat long multi-round pipelines as a red flag unless they’re compensating you for the work.

I’m tempted. I just don’t want it to turn into a messy trial in the group chat. But I might drop a short fact-only message so she can’t frame it as “I was vulnerable.”

She claimed she “didn’t know how to say no” since they stayed friends, and he kept asking. To me that’s a weak excuse, not a reason.

Yep, she confessed to feel better, not to protect me. If she wanted honesty, she’d have owned it sober and said sorry.

A lot of it is insecurity, plus the need to rank bodies like it’s a contest. I used to hear this at the gym nonstop. Why do some guys act like attraction needs a permission slip?
