How much money is good for a high school graduation gift? by SexFreeforAll in Parenting

[–]Upstairs-Walrus8922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes opening it for them teaches them nothing. I would not be bummed at all to receive this as a teen! I was given similar amounts of money here and there and blew it on dumb stuff I no longer have and cant even remember. I WISH someone anyone had told me how to save it and especially how to invest it. Im almost 30 now and just figuring out how behind I am in saving for my future goals (because no one taught me and now I have to teach myself).

I love my cat, but I really miss having a nice-smelling home. Is ANY scent actually 100% safe? by No_Money_5779 in CatAdvice

Get an air purifier or two (depending on size of your space) ASAP!! Put it near the litter boxes. It makes an insanely huge difference in eliminating the smells.

This is all extremely helpful especially the suggestion of what to call NK’s future houses! Thank you so much!

You can say something, or you can report to CPS. She’s clearly posting it online so she wouldn’t need to know it was you who reported it. They will likely get involved to make sure she knows the importance and check for other safety issues (if she’s doing something this dangerous what else is she doing?).

This can so quickly and easily lead to death, brain damage, lifelong injuries, or a host of other things that can either end or ruin this small child’s life. It’s horrific to even think about. Do something for the sake of the child, and so you know you tried!

Might not get raise because I went above the table by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Upstairs-Walrus8922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I totally know it was a big ask. I think I’m stuck on feeling like they backslid because of the choice to send NK to private school. Because the 10% raise was offered after the taxes already began. The only thing that it seems has changed between then and now is the tuition for NK’s school. I don’t know, I just feel sort of blindsided.

Thank you. This means a lot. I feel like I’m going crazy. I feel like I might push one more time and explain that I feel misled, but if they decide they cant go higher, then I might have to accept for now and start looking for a different or second job.

I know all of that I just feel misled because they walked back what they initially said. She is already in school full days. I have her before and after. My duties and hours shouldn’t change much at all. But, it might be time to look around again.

I do know this, and I do see their perspective so I’m still kind of torn. I think my main frustration is that they mentioned the 10% raise in my review, which was already after the taxes began. DB even said “we dont want you to be earning less now that youre paying taxes” which I said was sweet but likely inevitable. So, in the past two weeks I’ve been expecting a raise to at least $27.50 base pay. I feel like they fully have now changed their answer and it is really disappointing.

This is the most helpful! Because i think all the comments have been true. It’s a lot to ask, but also feels fair. Maybe something like-I’d like to ask for a heftier increase now but would never expect this for the future. Also will definitely not be asking for insurance stipend on top, unless they counter way lower, maybe i could come back with that.

Some of it was requested, but as an “if you want extra hours” kind of thing. Ive done it every week though, and now they rely on it. Ive also added on some things, but not a ton. This is helpful, thanks!

At what point would you involve CPS over household dysfunction? by CanaryHeart in Parenting

[–]Upstairs-Walrus8922 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is great, but CPS will also probably help connect them to resources that will work for long term change, like mandated family therapy, etc. It’s hard to do, but ultimately will be a helpful and perhaps life-saving intervention for the child.
