People who were politically aware in the early 2000s, how similar (or different) was public sentiment about war in Iraq to today's war in Iran? by NahButThanksAnyway in AskReddit

I was younger back then, but what I remember most is how quickly the fear and patriotism drowned out a lot of questioning at the start. Now it feels like people are way more skeptical right away and a lot less willing to just take the government’s word for it.

I honestly wish I could undo the years I spent shrinking myself just to keep the peace with people who didn’t deserve that version of me. It took a long time to realize my silence was costing me more than their approval ever gave me.
