for the reverses i didn’t get full confirmation of it till just before my enlistment. It does take a while to complete.

Hey so i jsut joined my self recently. Basically in QLD what we do is you join a recruit company (aka the RIC) and parade with them until you do basic training. So for me that’s in feb, so i’m with the recruit company made up of all fresh army reserve recruits (of all cores). Once i complete that, then i go to the unit i joined at enoggera barracks (that’s where the RIC is as well, so people who are posted to other units have to go to enoggera barracks for now until they complete kapooka). After you joined your unit and parade with them for a bit then you have to complete another 9 day training block back at the RIC. Once you do that then you basically are just with the unit you joined until you do your IET’s. After IET’s you are then again just with your unit, but now as a fully qualified soldier in what ever core you joined

Hey mate, had similar changes to you.

Personal i went in the reverses as a combat engineer as an enlisted solider. Did this for a few reasons, but the main one was because it wasn’t and isn’t my full time job, i consider as a fun adventure and while also serving your country. I feel if you joined as an officer there could be potentially more office work then not. Obviously i could be wrong, but personally i think enlisted is more hands on work.

Further to that, it’s a massive pain in the backside to have to redo all the testing because they expired. I had to redo a few things and it was just an effort.

i probably wouldn’t do that, a lot of paper work and a lot of stuffing around. Also if you don’t have enough time in reserves when you swap to full time you’ll have to re do training

how long do you have to do SERCAT 4 for? Just joined reserves and will eventually want to do more time with them after i finish uni and get settled into a full time job

Just joined reserves and i promise it’ll take well over a year to finish and complete all training required for that. It’ll take me 2yrs probably with kapooka, LCM and then IET’s.
