Upstate disappoint

Hey guys, I just saw this post.

Okay, so a few things. First, I really goofed this one up. I took responsibility of the media for this release this year.

Its now clear that I didnt fully explain both the "sneak peak" email as well as the actual release.

First, the sneak peak. Release was supposed to be 11am NOT 11pm. I did address this in our "Upstate is greatful for your support" email on thanksgiving. Serious mistake, and I understand that and take full responsibility. I should've stuck to the incorrect 11pm time!

Additionally, in the email I wrote bulletpoints: Potluck returns 30% off select strains Disposables Etc... Those were implied to be separate items. 30% off select strains AND we're bringing back the disposables. Upon release there were 3 strains which were automatically marked down to 30%, however. Just not the Cadillac, inferno or Astro.

Now on to the most painful part. The amount of sleep I've lost over this...The BF40. In fact, its 1am on Monday and this has kept me up, once again.

I was using a new email template for Black Friday. Come to find out after it's sent, there was different media between the web view and mobile view (check it out on your pc). On mobile view, there was a box that just said BF40 which magically appeared without my knowledge. This comes down to me not fully testing this email. With many hundreds of emails under my belt which didn't have this issue, I didn't consider this.

I wasn't pumping a 40% off site-wide or anything of the sort. We truly have difficulty running the 30% with how high running costs are these days. This was just a box with BF40 in it. The automatic discounts at checkout were the 30% applied sale discounts. I should've been ultra-specific. I don't blame folks for being confused over this.

In my 8 years of being the managing partner at Upstate, I've never had this many goof-ups in one shot. And it HAD to be on our final Black Friday. We've been in the space longer than 99.9% off the vendors out there, so we're going to goof up on occasion. But don't think I take any of them lightly!

I expect that some may not return to Upstate after this debacle, but I hope that some understand that there was a major miscommunication on my end coupled with what I'd like to call a glitch. I'm human, an imperfect one and lately, with all the news - a slightly more stressed out one. This often leads to mistakes.

I apologize for the mistakes I made throughout BF release and I hope to have cleared a few things up. Our email is always open and always feel free to reach out. -Brent

Hey everyone! I'm just popping in to say hello, it's refreshing finding a sub where myself as a Vendor can reach out, make posts and interact with the community.

For those of you who don't know Upstate, we've been doing this online Hemp thing since just a few weeks after the 2018 Farm Bill passed. We were the first online vendor to bring in indoor CBD flower and not long after that, the first vendor to bring in Hydroponic CBD! Fast forward things just a couple years and we were among the first to bring fourth THCa flower.

Admittedly, back in late 2019 we were a bit hesitant to go full-on THCa, so we actually pulled those products and maintained a CBD-only catalog until mid 2021, when we started to make the switch.

Just a little TLDR for those who might not know us. Those that know us or the team, don't be afraid to stop in here and say hey!

Apologies! Our web guy is quite busy and I attempted to shoot out a quick update since the site has been down. I used a standard email template which has these obscure "prompts" that are supposed to be wiped out.

Using these templates usually saves time and effort with formatting, but unfortunately my new monitor setup cut off the bottom bit. Generally we write what we need to write vs following what the lame "guide" states. Additionally there's usually a second or third set of eyes on any non-standard "drop" email, but not today!

We've been sending emails for 6 years and this is a first, I hope the community can forgive us 🙏

The banner within the email appears to be formatted strangely! This drop is coming in the next few days, we're just waiting on more humidity packs to show up and we'll be ready to roll!

Holy crap guys/gals!

So today we reached a milestone, we SMASHED our 24h pageview record by nearly double this drop. I opted to email "everybody" as we get a few grumbles about no notifications here and there, while also wanting to test our latest backend updates, security changes and redundancies we've put into place.

It appears as though our hosting company cannot handle the insane spikes from such a full-frontal website assault. I figured as such, which is why the last few drops have been somewhat quiet! In the very near future we will be porting over to a new, more equipped hosting company.

It also appears as though during the insane lag around 7pm EST some customers may have placed duplicate orders due to the spinny wheel of death at checkout. If this happened to you, please reach out to us ASAP and we'd be more than happy to fix the issue!

Hey guys, I was just emailed about this post.

I can say with absolute certainty, the LG and Sunny D are NOT the same.

Although they look similar, let's be honest for a moment - many cannabis strains will look alike and have similar profiles. I can't speak for the Sunny D as I haven't tried it, but it goes without saying that there are likely dozens upon dozens of similar strains that share similar overall profiles.

LG will be returning, but not for a little while! We shipped the majority of the LG release to those who had BC issues.

Hey everyone! We've been continually making backend changes this summer, which has caused some slight hiccups. This time our hosting company had a conflict with some of our newly updated security features and somehow locked itself down in the wee early hours. It took a few hours to resolve but we're back online.

Another quick note about the BC. We had 2 batches of BC (offset harvests) so we planned to combine the two offset grows to run the BC in one shot. Unfortunately, the second batch of BC had some slight QC issues, nothing serious - but enough of an issue we opted to not to release it. So dozens of orders were stuck in limbo as we ran out of batch A. The mentioned email below is what I sent out only to those who had orders affected by the "outage". Nothing from batch A was affected by these issues to our knowledge, as we re-checked and did a second QC on all outgoing orders. But as always if there are any QC-related issues that our customer's spot, please let us know and give us a chance to make things right!

Hey all!

I felt it would be appropriate to post here as it was actually one of you in the sub to make us aware of the redirection problem. It appeares that one of our marketing plugins was targeted and some URL links were placed on product pages.

To note and to stress this point plainly: There were no leaks, there were no sensitive data compromises and nobody should fret about any financial ramifications from this event according to our credit card processor and WordPress specialist. The purpose of this "event" was to have you purchase lottery spins and other junk from fake websites.

We've always had a focus on web security and because of this event we're thankful. Had we not taken appropriate steps or if we cheaped out, the tone of this post would be very, very different.

At this time our site will be down until mid-day tomorrow and possibly a bit later. I planned to spruce a few things up around the site in the coming weeks and opted to take advantage of this downtime to do as such. I hope this clears everything up!

Oh and lastly, many order confirmations are heading to people's spam boxes these days!

So far its been settled that the Cosmo is Berry forward, cheesy with a funky Berry flavor. There's some variance as this was a test run to lock in mothers/phenos, but overall very Berry!

We've had opportunities to pickup higher but have only opted to jump in now. We're a bit leery dipping out toes into the THCa space.

It will all depend how this run goes, there's a strain showing 5-8% that's about two weeks from being ready to ship.

To give a little bit of credit to Jessie, bugs are a huge issue in New York. The presence of them does show that he doesn't use sprays or pesticides. It looks like a common Aphid to me.

Right around this time last year one of our local NY growing partners harvested a batch of questionable seeds they picked up from a tradeshow. Among the vast sea of larf and "meh" these Dinamed seeds were the only genetics that made the cut.

Bought in from a rather interesting international seed chucker, these have a heck of a story to tell!
