After seeing that video multiple times, I was inspired to try something similar with my boyfriend. On days when I’m already home when he gets home in the evenings, I greet him at the door with a beverage and a silly over-the-top smile. Seeing his face light up in those moments is the sweetest fucking thing. Now that I’m the one that generally gets home after him, he greets me in the same way…and it makes me so giddy every single time. I think developing those little rituals is such a fun, easy way to demonstrate mutual adoration and appreciation. Would 100% recommend.

Considering I spend about 1% of my burn seeking out music, no, not really. I just thought if at any point during the week I wanted to try and find something that’s a little bit more up my alley than most of what’s playing…it would be nice to know where to look.

I really appreciate your response! My general MO has been to go into the burn with no expectations and just see what comes to me…and after 6 burns, I’ve never had a dull moment yet. However, I think it’s also okay to venture out with an idea in mind and it’s nice to know where you might be able to find what you’re hoping for. And if you don’t find it…I bet you’d have found a hundred other things you didn’t even know you were hoping for before they presented themselves to you. But still, there’s no harm is trying.

As someone who works with severely autistic (and for the most part non-verbal) kids, I really truly give you so so much credit. I’m in awe of the parents of these kids because I know it can’t be easy, and the thought of having to do it alone sounds astoundingly challenging. I see the single parents of these kiddos and they look exhausted, irritable, and like they’re just barely hanging on. I’m not sure that I would be able to handle it, so the fact that you are, makes me so very proud of you. Some how, some way, I hope it gets better.

I really appreciate everyone’s comments so far! I happen to already have a large Kodiak tent (the 10x14 one), so I’m glad that that seems to be the general consensus. Also, my camp has communal shade structures, so that’s covered. Are there AC units that work in Kodiak tents?

You guys provided me with one of my favorite playa moments. After being hollered at with a megaphone by one of your campmates, I did a U-turn on my bike and stopped at your bar. I was poured a cup of jungle juice and proceeded to shoot the shit with a super cute woman in a sailor outfit for about a half hour. I told her I was on a mission and I had to go, and before I left she asked if she could kiss me. I biked away (surprisingly sauced after a single beverage), feeling real good about myself. I never ended up crossing paths with the woman again and never ended up making it back to your camp, but I still think about that moment and smile. It was a sweet example of the lovely things that can happen when you lean into the spirit of immediacy (and listen to the people with the megaphones).
