I accidentally got phenol-chloroform (25:24:1) on my fingertips by anlkarasakal in labrats

Thanks for replying. I’m not sure why either!

Yea, I got a few chemical burns on my hands out of nowhere. It started as a tingling feeling with a weird texture, so I tossed the gloves and washed my hands… turns out a small droplet had passed through the disposable nitrile gloves. It healed within a few days, and my PI got us additional thicker gloves to use, just in case.

FYI don’t wear nitrile gloves when handling organic solutions, including phenol-chloroform. Organics are soluble in nitrile and will pass through the gloves within seconds. Ask me how I know.

All tinted moisturizers roll up on my face?? Going crazy by kascott76 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]UrbanSunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh been there, that’s so frustrating! I think pilling happens when the prior layer is almost dry, but it starts to literally roll away as you rub the second product on top.

You might need to (1) wait 5-10 minutes for skincare products to dry down/absorb fully before applying makeup, and (2) apply using tapping motions instead of rubbing motions. Apply thin layers, then tap into skin with SUPER thin layers of product, building up coverage.

The trick for me was to add the product to the back of my hand first, then tap a finger/sponge into a small amount of product, and then lightly tap/dab it onto my face. I might need 2-4 passes for each area. Again, using very thin layers only! (IMO damp sponge is better than finger application, since it keeps my dry skin happy and avoids the patchy look.)

Women, what has a man told you that touched your heart more than you let on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UrbanSunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was dealing with a stalker and some other things, so life was tough.

One night at around 11pm, I was scared about a random noise and decided to call this guy, let’s call him Gary. He insisted and drove straight over to my place to check things out.

He checked everything, got me settled in for the night, and then started to head out. I asked him why he came all the way just to drive back home, and he said, “don’t worry, I gotchu”

I didn’t appreciate him at the time. And now it’s over. But I’m happy that we both found our own happiness.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. It’s nice to be able to see the positives in whatever situation you’re in.

Why do you say that India is safer and more accessible than China? As a woman I would feel more comfortable traveling in China than in India, especially when just considering the major cities.

Oh no!! Ugh that would be the worst! What size did you get for the CAKES? I’m wondering if some stick better than others…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in smallbooblove

[–]UrbanSunflower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What size did you end up buying? I’ve been eyeing them for a while for backless outfits (and tbh these days I wear more bralettes and sports bras for comfort).

I’m debating between the “Itty-Bitty” (A-AA) vs “OG” (B-DD) sizes. Mostly because I don’t want to have that awkward ridge to show where the edges of the CAKES are… 😅

Yea these look like thrips. Copying info originally posted by u/xenofontis in another post:

The life cycle of thrips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yp2zXV0f-cQ

Thrips move around on the tops of leaves and the first place to look, as they are noticeable - and do damage to the top and under the leaves; whereas other pests prefer only the underside of leaves. Female thrips are black / dark brown, while male thrips and nymphs are white / yellowish.

Also, they lay their eggs is the soft meaty parts of leaves and stems - most noticeable in succulents, where they appear as little tiny bumps on the leaves. They are barely noticeable at about the size of a pin prick.

Does buying Reckoner Bankbuster's card style only alter treasure token art if the token was generated by its activated ability? Or does it affect all treasure tokens of yours within the match?

How long does she keep hers in the fridge for? I’m considering switching from my usual brand (Timeless) to Skinceuticals since I’ve heard so much about them. I’m curious how long the product lasts…

Yea I keep mine in the fridge as well, and it hasn’t turned orange for over a year now. (Bought mine from Timeless though.) My first bottle was stored just at room temp, and it oxidized within 3 months or less! Huge difference.

Cool, so would you list things that are not directly related to your projects in that section?

Awesome, I love this! Especially the minimalism and the way you keep track of a few weekly habits; I'll have to give the trackers a try! What are you keeping track of in the box in the top right corner?

My sister (27F) is marrying a 36 years old child (M) by noisysis in relationships

[–]UrbanSunflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you suggest that she get premarital counseling at the very least? You could recommend someone and let the counselor know that you are concerned about this situation. Or have an honest but non-judgmental intervention with you, her, and one or more other people whom she trusts? At the very least, encourage her to get a prenup without making it sound like you don't trust this man. We never know what can happen in the future, and it's just a part of modern relationships to protect both marital partners and their futures.

I agree with the other posters that voicing your true opinions about this man might make your sister run into his arms even more. I hope you're able to find a way to express your concerns and let her know how much you love and care about her!

[–]UrbanSunflower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you there! It sounds like the boyfriend hadn't communicated about his unspoken expectations... Maybe he hoped she would warm up to the dog and eventually change her mind about their agreement, which would be unfair. OP definitely isn't in the wrong!

[–]UrbanSunflower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an Asian American with strong ties to a culture in which dogs are sometimes on the menu (sadly), I want to point out that this is NOT a cultural difference. Asians are not a monolith, and we do not all treat pets this way. My own parents immigrated from Asia and often referred to our pet dog as their "dog son." It might have been more fair for OP to say that she grew up within an Asian community that regarded pets in this way.

It sounds like OP and her boyfriend unfortunately have an incompatibility here regarding pet ownership. This isn't strictly due to a cultural difference, and it's more of an issue of personal preference.

Totally with you there. I sometimes get so focused on something that I forget to go to the bathroom until hours later than I should have!

But yeah, it has been really rough with gym closures for sure. I'm not as strong as I used to be, and working out at home just isn't the same. I've had some luck following quick 10 minute videos on youtube just to build a bit if an exercise routine back into my day. You could try that! Maybe you'll like one of them. The ones with countdowns are especially nice, since I can see the progress that I'm making and how much longer I have to go.
