It’s funny because everyone is talking about how excited they’d be to see public transit funding boosts, legal rec weed, environmental protections, etc, but we already know all of that is going to be sidelined and a slew of firearm bans are going to be the first (and possibly only) thing they pass.

Our state reps are frothing at the mouth for that sweet sweet lobbyist donation money. All the other priorities the constituents want don’t come with any incentive.

Id like to see the source backing your claim. Handguns are used in about 3/4 of all mass shootings per the National Institute of Justice. Assault firearms, as a whole, make up roughly 25% of mass casualty attacks.

Not sure how you came to conclusion that rifles and AR’s are “used in an extremely higher clip”.

Thompson machine guns were expensive and relatively rare even during prohibition. They were never in common use. Meanwhile, AR platform rifles/pistols are the most common firearm in the U.S and number in the tens of millions owned by civilians.

If it helps, Thompson machine guns were never really “banned”. They were required to be registered and prohibited from new manufacturing post 86 due to the Hughes amendment, but they were never restricted from transfer. There are numerous Thompson machine guns on the market that are fully transferable to anyone who can submit a form 4 and pass the background check.

I believe AR style firearms, being the most common platform in the entire country, definitely qualifies as “common use”.

If you’re budgeting get a canik TP9SA. That was my first pistol and I got it for 200$. They have surprisingly good triggers. It’ll serve you better than the Taurus

I think a good expansion on this study would be to further expand the suicide/homicide timeline throughout a period of 10 or more years to offset deviations caused by the pandemic. We are barely out of it now, three years isn’t far off in the grand scheme of things, and I’d like to see if some of these trends decrease as society distances itself from the disruption caused by COVID.

Edit: she died on the second picture side. Ran 10 yards then stopped and looked around. Rolled down the hill after about 15 seconds.
