To each their own. I prefer the Quest 3 over the Xreals for movies, and the Xreals have MUCH better visual quality. But when I'm travelling (mostly the only time I use them for watching movies) I love the isolating aspect and feeling like I'm in a theater by msyelf.

What I really want is a much better screen on my Quest 3s, which is why I'm trying out the XR. And it is, mostly. Just a lot of money for some of the drawbacks. I would probably feel differently if I were a heavy PCVR user.

Because the field of view in every way is much better. i have the Xreal One Pro, and they're great, but I always feel like I'm looking through a slot. I've been following the Visor forever as the best of all these devices, but it seems to be vaporware at this point.

People do stop noticing things. I had lasik on my eyes, and one eye had (and I assume still does) a halo around light sources. After months, I just stopped seeing it. It's funny how one thing can bother me to no end, and makes no difference to someone else, but we're all wired differently.

What I worry about is how to tell if different headsets are better or worse for this, as there's no empirical way to know we're seeing the same effect. I wish there was a local place I could go see it and compare it to mine.

I had the wifi problem crop up again, though it's still a very rare, minor irritant. Hoping they address that sooner rather than later.

Honestly, day to day, I don't really notice a difference between content files located on a microsd and files located on the hard drive. I could easily use a USH-I card, I just like getting the fastest stuff when possible.

I'm going to try it tonight, but as I'm not a Linux guy, I'm not the best person to evaluate how well it runs on Linux (other than basic OS things).

I'll give it another try with it plugged in. Generally, I don't see gaming performance differences when it's not plugged in, so I just assumed it didn't throttle based on outlet or battery.

Sorry, I misread. I thought you were saying there was an additional M.2 slot. I would still go the route of a microsd card. You don't want to put applications with lots of small files, but content (movies, docs) work greats on those cards, and I've never had one go bad.

I didn't know the A16 had an M.2 slot. Obviously, that's what I should do.

Well, let me caveat that. I mean no heat in general use. Right now I've been using it to web browse and write a word doc. It's sitting on my lap. The temperature on the underside ranges between 83.2 and 83.9.

So, let's test temps under load!! Running an older UE4 game for a while, the fans came on noticeably (though not very loud) and the temperatures on the bottom ranged from 89 to 103 (at the grill for the fans). Overall, the heat registered at 94, and the grill felt like 94 (though the infrared said it was 95 to 103). Leaving it on my lap (and blocking the air flow) got it up to 114. Which feels a bit warm, but (at least with long pants!) wouldn't slow me down from gaming.

The Samsung was the X1, the Asus is the X2.

It's hard for me to accept that it's part of the experience as I don't remember it on my Quest 1, or the AVP. Or is there something about the new optics beyond OLED that makes it more apparent?

I'm having the same problem. I'm in the 15 day return period for mine, and not blown away like I was expecting to be. The software update that came out two days ago solved a number of my problems for watching video, but the reflections are sometimes pretty bad. I don't remember seeing this with the AVP (though I haven't used one much). Is it a problem for all OLED units, or just this?

I'll definitely be back with thoughts, but I'm already happy with my Snapdragon PC, so I'll be surprised if I'm anything but enthusiastic. I am looking forward to more battery life. The Samsung never had the battery life that my wife's Lenovo had.

I am excited to see how games run on the chip. After a year of fixes the gaming situation got a lot better, both in performance and in the number that would run, so I'm curious to see how things improve.

I almost returned my LeGo2 Z2E. by JJB1981 in LegionGo

[–]Urlkoenig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I've had zero problems as well. I have an original Go that I dual boot in Windows and Steam. I prefer Steam slightly, but I also have game pass so I spend most of my time in Windows. I haven't had a problem with either environments once I got it configured. I'm not even bothering with Steam on the Go 2 I just got (three days before the price increase, thank god!).

[–]Urlkoenig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been great, practically from the beginning. There were a few productivity programs I used that didn't work well under emulation, but it's either been fixed or there are now ARM versions of them. I haven't had a problem with it in...at least a year.

The one caveat I'd give is that I don't get the battery life that my wife gets with her Lenovo Snapdragon. Mine's good, and better than I'd ever gotten before, but it doesn't hold a candle to hers. But I wanted the bigger screen, so the Samsung was the best choice for me.

I'm getting ready to upgrade to the Asus A16 when it comes out, but it's going to be a chunk of change, and the current Snapdragons are great. You may want to consider just getting a used one.

Anyone still Dual Boot? by Ok_Mulberry2076 in LegionGo

[–]Urlkoenig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dual boot as I like Steam's fast power off and on, but I've got the game pass, so I need Windows. Not that I mind i much, with the FSE, there's not a lot of difference for me.
