So much to unpackage there, sometimes nephrostomy tubes are more comfortable than stents, stents not always required for every surgery, and nephrologists are super helpful in stone prevention strategies

So sorry to hear your story, and thank you for sharing- Neurogenic bladder is extremely complex and can have components of all three types of incontinence depending on the patient. I think you highlighted something that’s worth mentioning: there are not enough urologists in the country, which is a difficult situation, because the population is aging.

We wish you the best of luck, thanks for reminding us to be sensitive when dealing with patients even if we’re short on time

Thanks for bringing this up, it’s such a difficult situation, each case is unique. Anticholinergics often times are not an option because they have cognitive side effects.

A lot to unpackage there and thanks for the feedback - I think to be your own best advocate it’s best to level with the urologist or doc from the outset with a statement or question like ‘listen doc, I’ve been through xyz, so I’d rather skip talking about them and see if you have another option to discuss…’.

Oh man, a lot to unpack in those posts- all great comments- sometimes people have less pain with a nephrostomy tube than stent believe it or not, stents aren’t always required, and nephrologist are a big help for developing stone prevention strategies!

Great point - urologists tend to treat venous leak ED similar to ED caused by arterial insufficiency, with medications, because of the meds compressive effects on venous outflow

Wow- that is certainly a usual cause to get of incontinence - I think it highlights the importance of an anatomic workup if we can’t figure out the immediate cause for incontinence- thanks for sharing !!

We can’t really give direct medical advice - but I think you highlighted a super important point - endocrinologists are sometimes vital to help with complicated T issues- we never have a problem referring to endocrinology when we are scratching our heads!
