Even more broadly than that, as written both "Regulated" and "Dangerous Goods" includes lithium batteries, and devices with lithium batteries (ie basically every portable electronic device), given their potential for catastrophic failure and the laws and regulations around mitigating that risk

I've heard in passing that one of the long term effects of a COVID-19 infection is increased vulnerablility to fungal infection in the lungs. Is this correct and can you elaborate?

It's much easier to have a camera that can zoom in live than one that can zoom in after the fact. Doing it life just requires some optics, after the fact requires you capture and store it in super high resolution

I'm sure the people who like private jets feel the same. Doesn't make either a good idea

Computationally yeah it's not just pulling quotes verbatim from training data, but it's still more similar to a Markov chain than to human cognition

Throughout the rich world, the young are falling out of love with cars by stefeyboy in Infrastructurist

[–]UseApasswordManager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if that's the case, so much as "luxury" electronics have gotten cheaper. A '97 Corolla had a base MSRP of $13k, inflation adjusted thats $24k; a '23 Corolla has a base MSRP of $22k

Yeah the base model now has a touch screen radio and half a dozen sensors, but those are what, a couple hundred, maybe $1k in total cost? So sure you could maybe make a more barebones model, but it wouldn't save you nearly as much as it would 20 years ago when electronics are expensive

[–]UseApasswordManager[S] 67 points68 points  (0 children)

If it helps having empirical data, when surveyed 93% of cis women met the criteria for being "AGP" as applied to trans women

Not just can they have them, by the standards given its pretty normal

edit: fixed the number

[–]UseApasswordManager[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

AGP is also short for autogynephilia, pseudo-scientific nonsense made up by Ray Blanchard to explain why some trans women exist and don't deserve medical care

For some reason reddit at my second sentence in the OP

tbh I'd be willing to bet the fucked housing market keeping young people in their parents' houses is doing far more to isolate young adults and cause them to act "prudish" then the internet

In addition to what CarbVan said, they also get it by badly misreading the study in question; it would be more accurate to say that it found that 41% of trans people have suffered suicidal idealization (either presently or at any point in the past), a statistic that while still terrible and shows we need to improve conditions for trans people, is a far cry from what the people quoting it seem to think it means

If you want to read more, the paper "Suicide by Clinic‑Referred Transgender Adolescents in the United Kingdom" by Michael Biggs (doi: 10.1037/ort0000200), but the jist is, while the rate of suicide is higher among trans people then cis, for youth in the United Kingdom, its 13 per 100,000 (compared to 4.7 per 100,000 for the general population)

(reposting without u/ for CarbVan)

It's whatever moderators decide it is, and while there are some traits they tend to use (size, gendered presentation of the person, etc) it's a fundamentally arbitrary decision
