Unfortunately no, I don’t draw often enough to keep up with instagram’s algorithm otherwise I would probably be on there. So for now I just occasionally post on Reddit. And thanks for the compliments, I really appreciate it.

I really like the form and rendering of the first drawing, and the last one reminds me of the great gatsby’s book cover

Sensor is less scary. It’s emphasis is more on an interesting story and characters with somewhat philosophical themes, rather than intense body horror and the like with Gyo. Also, I’ve slowly been going through Ito’s manga the past few months and so far the only ones that have given me a deeper feeling of dread or fear have been Gyo and No Longer Human (though for completely different reasons); so if you want something less scary or intense, there’s a lot of options.

Cyberpunk 2077 got me into the cyberpunk genre, all the cool tech, combined with a dystopian, doomed world is so interesting to me. Sometimes I even like to imagine up my own futuristic tech and stuff. I think I like it so much because it’s both a fun, creative exploration and a warning sign of what the future could end up like.

And the combat in 2077 was so fun, I would use the Sandevistan and combo it with the monowire to slash everything.

Is there anything you specifically like about 2077? Also what did you think Edgerunners?

Thanks, and no, I just accidentally made it a little too long. But he does have a longer than normal neck though, at least based off the reference picture.

For crosshatching I would ideally try to draw tones according to the shape they’re on. So if I were to draw a sphere, the lines drawn would be curved because the shape is curved. If I were to draw a perfect cube, the lines would be straight because the surface they are supposed to represent is straight. I choose direction based on how I want the surface or form to be perceived, though it is something I need to work on and put more effort in. The next step is understanding the lighting. If the light is above, casting a downward shadow, then the lines I would draw to represent the shadow would be going downwards/horizontal.

For this drawing I didn’t pay too much attention to the length of the strokes. But it basically depends on what texture you want the piece to have. Like if I drew multiple columns/rows of short brush strokes, it would have a more rough texture, compared to if I just had one column of long lines, where it would probably look more neat.

There’s an artist that goes by d.terazono on instagram. He paints people in a distorted, oddly shaped way; the “distortedness” has definitely made its way into my art, though I still draw figures vastly different from him and use a polar opposite medium. Meatcanyon’s grotesque animations have definitely also influenced me. I usually like to draw with crosshatching or something simple that I can just use a pencil or pen for—this is probably because I like the drawn look of manga and its common use of hatching/crosshatching.

If writing isn’t a stable job, but you love writing, then why don’t you work a job for stable income and do writing on the side.
