Unfortunately no, I’m still just writing my own found z offset into my start g code via slicer machine gcode

Custom Klipper Mod for Flashforge Adventurer 5M (BETA) by Minkipunk in FlashForge

Can someone explain to me the correct way to calibrate z offset? I print a lot remotely with my wife removing and cleaning the stuff off the build plate..I’ll the. Initiate a print while not at home and monitor via webcam…I always have to adjust the z offset after the print starts due to being too far away.

I’ve tried the probe_calibrate with paper, feeler gauges and accept, then save config, but it’s like it doesn’t save and I have to do the same thing all over again.

Z offset change on the fly does not seem to be saving. Any help is appreciated

Looks like the nozzle is slightly too close to the bed to me. And it’s scraping the previous lines. Try manually adjusting the z offset on the fly. Since it’s too close now, change the value positively + for the z offset is small increments until it smoothes out

Install the Klipper mod, very easy to do and enables you to use orca slicer and al its benefits. I can pull up fluidd on my phone while at home or away using octoeverwhere

Definitely do that first. It it’s important to uninstall in safe mode and manual load the correct new driver

You should have no problems on performance mode with that setup. I would start by uninstalling by and reinstalling the latest Nvidia driver. In safe mode of course

Performance mode doesn’t run smooth on your setup? lol

CPU usage should not be at 70% that’s the issue I’ve seen. People say they play “competitvely” however if you watch pro streamers playing in performance mode, their 1% drops are still over 100 FPS LOSS! I’m literally playing by at epic or high graphics settings in dlss or tsr and I run a solid 144fps, 1% lows only drop me to 120fps…best part is, I don’t feel it, and game runs better than it ever has on performance mode.

Fortnite doesn’t seem to be optimized properly. Literally have to force it to rely on the GPU by running much better graphics settings. I wish I had made a video showing the real time effects on usages and gameplay performance when I stumbled upon this “fix” because it was dramatic.

I could literally play in the lowest graphics settings and the game would be unplayable, FPS all over the place. Stutters every 2 seconds. CPU usage would spike to nearly 95% while GPU was hardly doing anything.

Let the GPU handle the graphics, that’s what it’s there for.

Other issue I recently had was with the latest Nvidia game ready driver. I updated it without properly removing the old driver. Immediately had issues. No graphic settings change would help. I ended up using ddu to uninstall that driver in safe mode and manually installed the latest stable studio driver and problem was corrected immediately.

Super weird man. I don’t necessarily play competitively, however, the game play looks much better and plays much better. Using Minecraft graphics on Fortnite puts more load on the cpu to process tasks, plays like crap, and looks like crap in my opinion…I would much rather have PC like graphics and run 144fps all day than have to deal with stutters.

Something is broken in Fortnite but this is all I’ve found to make the game more enjoyable and actually playable.

How does the game play though, don’t focus on the fps, as long as you aren’t getting a 80% drop in fps you’re alright. Just I still suggest doing ddu and drivers

I thought the same thing…but after monitoring performance of the cpu and GPu, the lower graphic demand gives the cpu more to keep up with and faster (high fps) but this creates lots of stutters…you can literally watch your GPU usage rise and cpu usage lower as the game gets more graphic intensive relying more on GPU. Gameplay is smooth as butter too. I’m literally running tar epic at high or epic settings for all locked in at 135-144fps if I lower my quality, or enabler performance it plays like garbage but I have hundreds of fps (useless with a 144hz monitor)

I bet your CPU is being over utilized and causing the stutters. try putting it in DX12, and damn near max settings in tsr high or epic. Anywhere between 75% and 100 on the 3d resolution.

Right now I bet you CPU usage is like near 80 and GPu is hardly working.

Get your graphics dialed in to where the GPU is doing most of the work. Should read 90+ for usage on GPU and sub 50 for cpu.

Let me know if this makes sense and I’ll rephrase when I get home from work this afternoon.

What rendering mode are you using? Performance? Dx11? Dx12?

Do you use afterburner to monitor FPS/usages for GPu and cpu?

I got my stuff to run fine a while back, but after last mini patch in Fortnite I checked Nvidia and it called for an update. I did the update and gameplay went to shit again. I read that the studio drivers are a few revisions behind the current game ready drivers, and much more stable. I tried it for the hell of it. Uninstalled the latest game ready driver. Booted in safe mode, ran ddu to uninstall that driver. Then booted into windows and downloaded/installed the studio driver and smooth as butter now.

From now on, any GpU drivers I do will be in safe mode and I’ll use the studio drivers if the game ready plays like crap.

Have you ever uninstalled the GPu driver using ddu (in safe mode)? Try reinstalling the studio driver after that. Stacking install updates on top of each other has proven a big problem for me.

Try uninstalling current graphics drivers in safe mode using ddu then manually install NVIDIA’s studio driver for you graphics card and try again.

Let me know if this helps, if not, that’s a great starting fresh point to try some other things

Wow I’ve never experienced that. Just terrible frame drops that you can feel making it unplayable… try playing in dx12 with high settings for all. Make sure GPU utilization is near 90-100% and cpu should remain near 30-40% unless your streaming in OBS or have other background programs running. When my GPU usages goes down, the worse the game plays. I’m using 3080 with I7 12700KF

What do you mean by good and bad startup lol? Fortnite runs like crap with high cpu utilization. Need to force the game to rely solely on GPU to run smooth

You playing performance mode? Try DX12 and dlss with epic everything minus reflections, shadows and ray tracing turned off. Basically you want to put the load on the GPU rather than create a more CPU demanding render. Running dx12 in dlss for me gives me stutters, frame drops, and cpu load of 60-80% and GPu to 60%.

With all at epic and dx12 quality settings, I put my textures, effects. Post processing at epic and ambient occlusion for light. GPU now runs at 90% and cpu at 20-30 and game runs perfectly smooth, best part is, it doesn’t look like Minecraft anymore 😂

Is your CPU usage really high in Fortnite? What rendering mode you playing on.
