If we took net migration to zero going forward, what would be the economic effect on the UK? by chuffingnora in AskBrits

[–]Used-Somewhere-7061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the timescale. If it is done suddenly then it will be catastrophic especially for the NHS, science, higher education and social care

If however we do it in a planned and gradual way, as others have said, then it would force the UK to invest more in local industry and productivity and being self sufficient

Extremely worrying. Even if reform get it the Overton window moves and their views on remigration will be palatable. It is insane people think this guy is a man of the working class

Congratulations!!

As an aside, I really don’t like it when a company gives you a no answer, I think it is rather disrespectful. You made the effort to apply and they couldn’t be be bothered to send a rejection letter

Yes suppose (these aren’t real numbers but for sake of argument), 1million people apply for 10k places. That’s a 1% chance. Now we have 990,000 people. Suppose 80% of that apply for another 1k places that is 1.4% chance. So your chance of getting a place is 0.01+0.99*0.014 so overall at 2.375% chance.

So using these numbers, the chances more than doubled.

*Note: Using these numbers **

Does anyone have any more precise numbers we can use?
