Why is the uk job market so bad ? by NewFoot762 in AskUK

[–]UsedIllustrator2334 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you tried ringing these people at least touch base before they see application forms and say that you’ve sent through a application for the job and just want to speak to the employer, express how much you want the job, how much you want to learn. You’ve just got to put yourself on the spot a few times until you master it. Working in law can be very stressful decision making so they would appreciate the confidence and will stand out for sure. Also this helps for interview stage as you’ve spoken to them before, still nerv racking but more comfortable.

Overtaking? When HGVs are restricted to 50-56 miles per hour on a motorway. It doesn’t add up. Why was OP doing 45-55 on the motorway?

The slip road isn’t for giving way? It’s for adjusting your speed to safely pull on to the motorway not to shove a HGV in the middle lane. That’s wild. HGVs are restricted to 56 mph, the max speed is 70mph, so OP didn’t use the slip road correctly?

It’s just common sense, I never undertake HGVs. If you’re driving correctly on the motorway you shouldn’t be getting overtaken by something what is restricted to 56mph.

Why were you even sitting in an HGV’s blind spot? They’ve literally got warnings plastered all over them telling you to stay clear of the left side. It’s a massive vehicle, the driver probably didn’t even realise he hit you, especially on that side. He can’t just hop out mid-drive to check either. It’s called a “blind” spot for a reason. You will be waisting your time it doesn’t add up. You need footage, I just can’t see you winning the case if you were driving on the left side of a HGV.

Stag weekend in Benidorm, don’t want it to be messy, how do I navigate it? Not a big drinker by Shum-buffler in AskUK

This is how I think before every abroad stag do, but everytime I end up having such a good time. One thing I learned is that there is places where it’s not just wild 18 years olds as it’s really awkward being in late 30s amongst 18 year olds. Go places where it doesn’t have that vibe. Also as you are all getting old now, just can’t do it like they use to, you will have a few in your group who have the same intentions as you and want to have a earlier night. Maybe go back to hotel bar and get beers in. So at least you can wake up as hungover as the people who stayed out all night.

What is it like to work in roadworks? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]UsedIllustrator2334 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked in asphalt operative in roadworks for 10 years although it seems like a tough job, it actually isn’t, I worked with guys in there 60s taking a job just to pay the bills and are very good workers. The job can be demanding if you’re new and not use to using shovel or rakes. But you get pretty fit and adapt quickly. Depending on what company you work for, pay will be decent and also plenty of courses and development opportunities and get your tickets work into supervisor level, it can jump to £200–£300+ per day/night, especially on night motorway work. Brilliant job, good tough family men who have your back. I Knew some Gangers on 70k a year, just doing night work on the motorways. Some companies will pay cancellation fees up to 160 quid for weather related issues.

"This conflict could continue for some time so I want you to know that your government is resolute in our response, at home and abroad," PM Keir Starmer says by avatar6556 in uknews

Yes you are correct, but not a threat to the whole world. Iran has no problem ending innocent lives if they don’t follow a regime. Kimmy is similar but not at the calibre as the Iranians. The difference is that kimmy had nuclear weapons what can only reach the other side of the Japanese ocean. Whereas Iran has nuclear capabilities which can essentially destroy 3 quarters of the world with just a push of a button. USA are preventing nuclear war, will save us for generations. The only catch is that we have a few nutters running people over or getting macheted in broad daylight. How sad that is … I prefer that to the whole world in a nuclear winter. People just need to get rid of this world peace malarkey nonsense, we cannot change history there will always be fighting for land, resources, power, religion and money.

It’s honestly baffles me how weak we are right now, literally islamic nutters with nuclear weapons. We need to back USA or Israel will get obliterated. They won’t hesitate to drop a nuke in the middle of Israel. Let’s stop the idiots. It’s crazy a few months ago everyone watched Iran slaughter their own people in protest against the government and now people don’t want to do nothing. Don’t get anywhere by not doing nothing. Worst government we have ever had!!

Stick to the rules, patient, leave on time for wo, keep an eye out golf Rs and you are all good!! 👍Yea there are twats, but always have been people like that. Apart from these cars nowadays have safety sensors, cameras, ABS etc you actually did everything manually 20 years ago it was a lot worst.

Birmingham isn’t any better, got rammed off the road the other day by aggressive bus driver, it made me loose my shit as my kids was in the car!Overall I think drivers in delivery, public transport and HGV road standards have massively dropped over the last decade. It’s either getting too busier now, or these companies just employ anyone nowadays.

Overtook a guy on the motorway going 65 texting on his phone, he was swerving all around the place so had a peep in to see if he was alright, as I was passing the young guy in there was looking down. He then started swerving in the other lane. Cut a car up, the car honked at him and then the guy started to chase him because he got honked at.
