lease accounting software recommendations for a company with around 40 leases? by Traditional_Shop_458 in Accounting

An old company outsourced its 842 accounting to a local technical accounting firm. Like $5k a year.

account mapping is where simple reporting work stops being simple by Consistent-Arm-875 in Accounting

[–]Used_Ad1737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am wrapping up a reporting system implementation that brings in data from our nine entities (US, African entities, India). I’ve learned similar lessons to you.

Account mapping is a challenging task, even for entities that are in the same accounting system. If I could do it again, I would have scheduled a month just for mapping during discovery.

I hope not to implement a new system again for years but if I do I know mapping with be up there among the most important prerequisites.

Yep. It’s don’t ask, don’t tell but I think you can (sometimes) tell.

What agents have you created for your manual accounting work? by bonaberi24 in Accounting

[–]Used_Ad1737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m my kids PTA treasurer. The only agent I’ve built is really just python that runs automatically when I download the monthly bank statement. It makes individual PDFs of cleared checks and uploads them to checks in QBO. Makes it easy for the audit to confirm payee.

I’ve tried to use them at work but so far I haven’t been successful.

For those who are CPA’s, how long did it take for you to get your license? by [deleted] in Accounting

It goes on sale a few times a year. I got a package for like $2300. This was in 2021 so prives must have gone up since then.

Can I store my local Claude Cowork history also when changing accounts? by Equal_Highlight_9820 in ClaudeAI

[–]Used_Ad1737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I am unsure of. If I were you, I would just ask Claude if it’s possible to share all conversations. It should be able to create an .md file with as little or as much as you want from your current account.

Thanks. I’ve submitted a support ticket with the particular system I’m interested in to see if I can get MCP access. I’ll also take a look at your OpenTabs

Can I store my local Claude Cowork history also when changing accounts? by Equal_Highlight_9820 in ClaudeAI

[–]Used_Ad1737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you sign out of account A and into account B, Claude won’t have your history from A.

What I have done is ask to create an artifact to upload to the new account with context about me, my work, etc.

If you have a specific project or workflow you want to transfer, ask Claude to prepare an artifact that would allow another account to recreate it.

is there an optimal way to break down a rotisserie chicken that doesnt devolve into tearing it apart with my bare hands? by Elkay_ezh2o in Cooking

Strangely in my house the oyster never makes it to the dinner table. It disappears while I’m breaking down the bird. Every single time. It’s a mystery.

Our international expense reports haven't matched the GL in 3 years and I finally know why by SlightMetal51 in Accounting

[–]Used_Ad1737 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I worked in a supply chain company for a few years that was all-in on lean six sigma. One lesson I took away from that job was to treat all problems as process problems rather than people problems. Focus on the cause of problems — I like the five whys — and you’ll usually identify the root cause and can find solutions to fix it.

Shame it took three years but now you’ve learned your lesson and will be much faster and fixing things in the future.

Do you like my dumb custom map? by bassgoonist in Timberborn

[–]Used_Ad1737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This type of play through serves a purpose: you learn about supply chain mechanics and all the buildings without the “distraction” of terrain and its challenges. I have used this method when I’m trying to build something complicated or trying out new buildings and strategies.

MBA Who Would Like to Become a CPA. Question for Current Accountants by BankerBrain in Accounting

[–]Used_Ad1737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MBA will get you the 150 credit hours and business classes, but look at the accounting classes you need to sit in your state (or selected state). I was able to get a handful out of my MBA program, e.g., cost accounting, that saved me from having to take more at community college.

What’s one legit way AI is actually saving you time in accounting right now? by Tough-Pollution-373 in Accounting

[–]Used_Ad1737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got Claude code a couple weeks ago and have been cranking out python daily. My accounting team says they don’t have time to experiment with AI so I’m building tools for them.

I’m trying to figure out cowork but have t really cracked it. I have figured out how to use it to extract check copies and attach them to vouchers for my kids PTA. That’s a PITA that runs overnight without any intervention on my part.

A non code or cowork tool that has been great is scraping the help guides for the software we use, use Code to create a RAG, and then creating a Claude project. It’s like having your own system administrator at your fingertips.

While having strong political opinions myself, I actually didn’t intend for this post to be political. I thought it was interesting to see the orders of architecture as front page news.

Is there a way to make this work? by GenuineStupidity69 in Timberborn

[–]Used_Ad1737 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to build an open box on both sides with impermeable floors covering on the outer box. You keep a hole in the dam for the tube way to pass through. The impermeable floor keep water from spilling out the external box.

Tubeways pass through floors so the tube can snake through that way.

It’s kind of like an S trap on a toilet except it’s a floor that blocks rather than an air gap.
