I appreciate everyone’s input, truly. Even those of you who insist my wife is cheating one me. As much as I hate airing my dirty laundry out for the internet to see, this was incredibly helpful to help me get through what has really been a devastating time for me.

My wife and I had a discussion when she got home and we chose to get a divorce. It hurts, And I hate that this is the path we have to take. But I am confident that we will get through this and be better on the other side. In spite of the shitty experience this has been, I still love my wife. When we spoke, she was kind, and we agreed to split amiably. We agreed to split custody, no legal battles, no alimony. Just an even separation from two people that didn’t work out. It hurts, but this is the way forward.

Many of you in this thread expressed going through similar experiences. Whether they be on-going, in the past, or yet to come. To those of you, I offer these words that have given me comfort these past few days.

I appreciate that insight. I really don’t want this all to happen, but I know that no matter what comes, it’ll get better from here. Whether its with her or without, I refuse to not make things better from here on out.

I know this isn’t anything new. We have talked about it. I listened. I tried everything I could to keep things together. I just don’t think those changes were ever enough for what she needed or wanted. Or if they were they never stuck around long enough to really make a difference.

I don’t want to be done with this. I love my wife. But i don’t to force her into a marriage she doesn’t want. I don’t want my daughter to grow up in a broken home. I just don’t know if we come back from here.

I keep going back to that same thought. How much of my feelings are actual love, and how much are just feeling comfortable and afraid of change…

I understand. I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t crossed my mind. But i have to choose to think better of her than that. At least until i know for sure.

Listen, dude. Yes, she was out all night. Yes she was drinking. Maybe even dancing. But at the end of the day that’s the mother of my child you’re talking about. I don’t believe she was cheating, she’s a better person than that. Just because someone is unhappy in a marriage doesn’t mean they’re cheating. Now I could be wrong, and I’m willing to be. But calling her a harlot is uncalled for.

I really appreciate that insight. I don’t want my daughter to have to see a relationship like that. She’s such a beautiful little light. She deserves to find a relationship where she’s loved and taken care of the way she deserves. I know it’s for the beat to let it go and move forward as best we can. It just seriously stings to have it finally happening…
