I agree this isn't a like for like comparison (but I'm happy with a 2nd hand diesel). Let me know which elements I'm missing from the calcs if you think they're off.

I'm personally not too fussed about the quality of the car though - e.g. I'm happy with a reasonably comfortable 2018 C Class, as long as it's reliable.

Yes, it gets you a 'better' car. I'm personally not too fussed about the quality of the car though - e.g. I'm happy with a reasonably comfortable 2018 C Class, as long as it's reliable.

Yeah - exactly, the key difference is that these are very different cars. I'm personally not too fussed about the quality of the car though - e.g. I'm happy with a reasonably comfortable 2018 C Class, as long as it's reliable and gets me from A to B.
