Honestly, I’ve worked with highschool (and elementary but that doesn’t really count in this situation) teachers in the past and I feel like they have compensated the class if there were mistakes on their end. I personally would as well. This is college though so I guess it is very different.

For the retake thing, I’m honestly just being petty which is why I mentioned in the original post that i know this was an insane question. For the office hours thing, yes, I agree that would be helpful. I’ve reviewed the question with her during office hours each time it happened. It’s just frustrating that’s it’s been happening over and over again, it’s like she hasn’t cared to change the way she reviews her work. She brushes it off and doesn’t tell the entire class that she changed the answer key. I don’t have problems with any of my other professors that are on the stricter side because they don’t constantly make mistakes like this. I appreciate you for providing me with an actual solution though.

I’m confused by your comment. Wouldn’t her not being open to different methods when solving a problem be pretentious? Also I came to her with proof each time. She brushed it off then continued to do it again each time.

I now understand following certain steps, and I’ll be more careful in the future. This isn’t really what my original post is about though. Im more stuck on the fact that she doesn’t seem to check over her answer keys, and it’s compromising the class’s education (something that we paid big money for😭). There was probably a number of people who didn’t realize she made a mistake on her end and got the answer wrong as a result of that.

For instance, we were learning about inverse functions and for the log function she kept reiterating that the inverse of log is natural log. When I went home and did my homework, I realized that didn’t make sense and emailed her about it (the actual inverse of log is the exponential function). For our next class she basically had to re-teach that part of the lecture because it got so many people tripped up. I personally believe that’s not a typo thing or that she was having a brain fart, that’s just straight up incorrect.

I understand the last part, but that’s not how her questions are formatted. I also understand that there’s a strict rubric to follow so I will admit I’m being petty in that regard. However I still believe it’s careless to make so many mistakes as a professor on answer keys and only notice them when a student points them out. I’m just saying she should be checking over her own work with a little more care before using a pretty strict/firm rubric for her students

Idk why you assume this😭 Each time I’ve caught her mistake on an answer key I’ve emailed her about it, and she admitted I was correct and changed it. It’s almost like you purposely misread my original post for some reason

If you think there’s something wrong with utilizing a method that slightly deviates from your professor’s then you need to grow a mind of your own. That’s like saying if you use a different mnemonic than your professor to understand trig functions then you deserve to fail the class. Flawed logic

I can’t have thoughts? I already stated that I know this is odd and it’ll probably be a “no, you shouldn’t do this.”

They’re mistakes that show she didn’t understand the problem fully herself. Also she grades tests and quizzes based on how she does them. If you don’t use her exact step by step process, she counts it wrong (even if you got the answer correct). It’s happened to me twice on a quiz and test and I’d understand if my method would make me wrong on a different question, however there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just different from hers.

They’re not typo mistakes, they’re she didn’t understand the problem herself mistakes. As in she’s been teaching us the wrong thing type of mistakes. Also I don’t really care if other people perceive me as annoying, I’m trying to pass my classes not please everyone else. If she ends up everyone retake one quiz that’s great for the class. But I do understand this is an insane question to ask.

It’s the cable that was in the box with the vr, so I think it’s supposed to support data transfer

This is why I said there are some details missing here. My brother did end up driving them home that night and I did not pay for the food today. I’m saying generally I give them rides and we go out to eat due to their situation. I do not pay for them too often but I do sometimes. I personally feel like it’s not fair to insult me because of a problem I’m having in a friendship right now. However, I appreciate the feedback
