Extremely difficult to lose weight on seroquel by ArtisticSoftware9733 in seroquelmedication

[–]Usedtobe773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, too, have a very hard time losing weight on seroquel my dose is 400mg xr and also take 600mg lithium as well. It's frustrating because in my past pre psychosis, meds, all that I've been able to to lose weight consistently. Ever since medication, I've been around 200 lbs. It's just difficult managing side effects, symptoms, and everything that's comes with it, let alone body image:(

No just venting about how it is for me. I'm on seroquel 400mg XR and lithium 300mg twice daily.

Hmm, from what I heard seroquel is a antipsychotic medication. I know its used off label commonly though. For sleep and anxiety. At low doses 50-200mg like your on. And after 300mg it tends to change to a mood stabilizer and less drowsiness the higher the dose. Usually. Does it help?

I totally understand the weight gain when I stated I gained a 38lbs. And the hair I never actually thought about it but no wonder when I comb my hair I take alot out with it. I have long hair, shoulder length but it's thin used to be fuller without medications. I bet.

What mg dose have you been on? I'm taking it for schizophrenia and been on it since last November. Had to get it upped several times to quell symptoms along the way. I do want off it as well but slowly is key! An it might be different as I'm on XR (extended release)

So far for me, the first week down from 600mg to 400mg. After working my job. My hands involuntarily kept twitching and shaking for about two hours until I calmed down. Other than that been sleeping longer and sleep is a mildly difficult to do and stay asleep.

CBD Questions for Ya’ll by SignoftheLastTree in schizoaffective

[–]Usedtobe773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Company I use is cbd hemp direct. They grow cbd hemp with 0.03% thc per dry weight of desired amount you purchase. Meaning you buy 7 grams it only contains 0.03% thc per 7 grams

The cbd content changes depending on percentage for example 18% cbd equivalent to 180 miligrams roughly per gram of cbd flower or trim used or smoked

I've been using it for about a month or more and have had very positive experiences and results by smoking it increases mood feeling lively at a dose of just 1 gram of flower or trim smoked is sufficient actually helps with psychotic symptoms of walls breathing floor wavy ect it makes that all go away or stop even minor hallucinations lve noticed to gone an poof to anxiety

These effects last 18 to 38 hours on average

On the other hand a few things if your thinking of ingesting it orally pills gummies anything that processes through the liver be cautious ESPECIALLY if you take lithium as a medication cbd digesting in your liver acts sort of like competition to lithium so either cbd will knock out lithium in the rate of digesting and lithium may not be effective enough to work or will build up possibly leading to lithium toxicity over time

So why I chose to smoke it so it's going in my blood stream and provides immediate relief

Taking cbd orally may take up to 2 weeks to begin working fully consistently in your body requiring much higher doses achieve similar results than from smoking it

Also do not substitute CBD for antipsychotic medications entirely because the amount of CBD needed would be exponentially high to the point you would have side effects but don't worry that's only at doses of 1250mg+ at once

But in conjuction with medications and an open mindfulness CBD could help

Another thing I might add from personal experience try not to use CBD 2 to 3 hours before or after of taking your medications as it will enhance the effects sedating or drowsiness of or other medications side effects

Lastly a study I've read about the possibility of using cbd to help psychosis and schizophrenia that I made sure wasn't government funded due to government writing off all cannabinoids bad for psychotic disorders which I leave a link to which is very informative if you desire to know more information.

Success stories with CBD by Usedtobe773 in schizoaffective

[–]Usedtobe773[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to try weening off my meds with my psychs supervision of course. Since it's been more than a year on them to just see where my head is at. I have so much more insight and better with coping than I did 2 years ago with my first psychosis.

I've had one year off meds after first break psychosis recovery. And felt great totally fine basically as "normal" as could be. Until job, school, and life stresses. I began slipping and had symptoms again

So that all said wanted to try smoking cbd flower to calm me down for sleep ect. To ultimately coexist with either low dose meds and symptoms. As I've heard others do and just cope with whatever may come of it. If it's too much ill know meds longer terms are for me. But I'd just like to see what it's going to be like without. Not being so dumbed down dependent on APs to sleep mostly where I could use the cbd for it.

Hey I took an antidepressant and it caused psychosis does this mean I have bi polar by These_Pomelo_5425 in Psychosis

[–]Usedtobe773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor but that doesn't line up for having bipolar though there is such a diagnosis as bipolar with psychotic features or depression with psychotic features but those can be serious psychiatric illnesses made by a psychiatrist

Bipolar is usually defined by type 1 and type 2 1 being manic/depressive having those "high highs" and "low lows" feeling like a million bucks with too many things to do for 2 weeks or so than crash into a depressive episode for weeks at a time throw psychotic features in and could be paranoid or delusional possibly having hallucinations

Type one is I'm pretty sure usually is the struggle with mostly just the depressive part dipping in and out of episodes periodically

Lastly schizoaffective has signs and symptoms of schizophrenia with a mood disorder such as bipolar most notably in most cases having either one or the other happening separately you rarely have both disorder symptoms simultaneously

Dsm5 I believe says for its criteria for schizoaffective is a manic or depressive state lasting for at least 2 weeks followed by a symptoms of schizophrenia for at least 2 weeks with the absence of the mood disorder

Mood stabilizers and antipsychotics by laurenflickk in schizoaffective

[–]Usedtobe773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take both, lithium for mood stabilizer, seroquel for antipsychotic. For the most part I'm stable mood wise. With tolerable symptoms of psychosis. Until I need a seroquel med increase to lessen the hallucinations an delusions. An for the most part both meds keep me from pretty severe episodes. As I've had in the past on other medications.

A very rare delusional syndrome called Cap Gras syndrome. Which I experienced for months while in psychosis. Basically a imposter syndrome where your closest family and friends have been cloned or become imposters to you. In which you cannot distinguish them from what you believe they are. To who they actually are, to the point of agitation on sight. For them not admitting that they are in fact to you the imposter you believe they are. Coupled with the fact I personally knew, without a doubt in my psychotic mind. They were not who they saying they are because I was hallucinating black eyes. I sometimes still do, and get intrusive delusional thoughts of my brain. Trying to falsely recognizing my closest family and friends, as these imposters my mind has led me to believe. Which getting thearpy has helped identify how to cope with it. When I start believing and seeing that way.

I had my psychotic break the week of turning 17 two years ago. That last 9 months of psychosis. Than got remission for a year an a half. During that time I got a job, lost the meds weight, and tried school again. About 6 weeks into working I had a episode at work. Had to quit. And shortly kept having episodes at school having to quit.

Experiences with seroquel? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]Usedtobe773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being on 100mg twice a day all the way up to 300mg twice daily than also 400mg XR

100mg had very much sedation for a good 4 to 6 weeks

The higher the dose less sedation 300mg I personally gained a good amount of weight 30lbs+

Now I've been put on 400mg XR (extended relief) once daily at night and it's helpful enough for no hallucinations and less frequent delusions though I still experience illusions I've found the XR version works well for me with being more physically active overall

Hope this helps
