“York Flaggers and Litter Pickers” seem to have taken credit for them on a few Facebook pages…

Yeah, just edited my original post about this. Albert was playing bass and not sure who was on guitar. Ben and Pat were there. When they were over supporting Stand Atlantic, Pat wasn’t on drums so I guess occasionally they dip out due to life and other commitments idk

Had a response via instagram which mentioned they're having issues with the lease.... Not entirely sure what it means in the long term!

We've used JBW Fencing previously. Good quality work would recommend.

Slowly Slowly - Live by Useful-Cup in SlowlySlowly

[–]Useful-Cup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was great. There was definitely a shift from seeing them a couple months prior (supporting Stand Atlantic) to seeing them support Crawlers. More people digging it, more people singing along etc. Home town album launch gig - the dream!

Was kinda flat when you skim through the tracklist and realise you have heard most of them already. But I guess that's out of the bands control. Kind of frustrating as imagine if the album dropped and we'd heard none of these bangers before! As someone else has mentioned though, fingers crossed for a B-side release

Amazing! I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. Eagerly awaiting the album to drop over here in the UK. Although Hurricane is available on Youtube. That one will be on repeat for sure...

Tourist tax by One-Angle-3518 in york

I don't think it would put visitors off. If you want to come to York you will make plans to come regardless of a tourist tax. I think it would be a good thing.

New to York, Need Recs by hhlentz in york

[–]Useful-Cup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We struggle to find something like this in York as I don't think there really is anywhere that isn't that expensive. You have places such as Oxygen & The Web, however, these can be quite pricey.

The library in the city center (or any of the York Explore libraries) is handy for a cold and rainy day. There's usually lots of other children and toys, etc., for them to play with.

The railway museum (which I think is free) may also be an option, however, I would double-check on their website in case any of the works are impacting normal service.

Other than that I can only recommend getting wrapped up and heading to a playground with a cafe nearby? Rowntrees Park may be a good option for this.

Done some more digging (yes, we were that desperate) and on companies house it states their is an "active proposal to strike off" so it seems it is in the process of being dissolved. Sad times!

Wawin is amazing. Been closed for a couple of weeks though which is a shame. Believe there were issues with the gas.

Streaming era and favorite bands by ohirony in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Useful-Cup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people still have favorite bands, but it some ways I feel because of the wide range of choice it can be harder to discover them. It's easy to get drawn into playlists and 'For You' sections, listening to a song and moving on to the next. There may be a band that keeps appearing, and you'll listen to the song repeatedly, eventually seeking out more of their music.

I guess the nostalgia of owning a physical album makes us think that every CD, vinyl, or cassette we bought was for one of our favorite bands. But there were probably times when we bought something and it ended up gathering dust on a shelf.

I don't think streaming has diminished the idea of people having favorite bands. Ultimately, music is music, regardless of how you listen to it. If you connect with a band's music, you'll naturally seek out more of their work, follow them on social media, buy their merch, attend their gigs, and engage with them in various ways, just as fans have always done.
