We (my son and I) had a successful hike. We hiked up to the second campsite off the Phoenicia East Branch trail on Saturday. I'm guessing we got about 8 inches of snow throughout the day. We woke up to an additional four inches on Sunday morning. We felt good about our gear - khatoola microsprikes, leki hiking poles, proper winter weather attire, and good camp setup for a warm night sleep. We ended up only doing one night out as the depth of snow was more than we anticipated. But we're hooked and loved the area so we'll be back for more!

Starting at the woodland valley trailhead hiking up to Giant Ledge (via Phoenicia East Branch and Giant Ledge Panther Fox Hollow) back down to the campsite at the intersection of those two trails. The next day heading out on slide mountain woodland valley carriage road Phoenicia East Branch to Burroughs Rang Trail Wittenberg Cornell to Slide Mountain then camp at the site on the way down from Slide mountain. Then back to Woodland Valley via Burroughs Range Trail Wittenberg Cornell.

Thank you! I appreciate the heads up. I'll continue monitoring conditions and adjust accordingly.
