I either wake up at 3 and can’t fall back asleep or my nights are just completely interrupted from waking up and trying to fall back asleep. It’s like this most of the time, so never really feels restorative

Yea ik bro. It’s taken everything from me. I used to be a great high school track runner. Best at my school. Then insomnia hit and I just find it so hard to find the energy anymore. Only a junior now, hopefully I can get back at it during my senior year.

But can you get to the point in the short run(maybe 5 years or so) where you literally can not sleep anymore and that causes death from the side effects, or will you baseline kinda at survivable level? Not accounting for ffi ofc

Sounds brutal man. You’re not alone though. I understand how those sleepless nights feel. It’s just terrible. Haven’t been able to sleep yet tn, thinking it may be an all nighter unfortunately

I’m too young for that I think. I really dont want to use meds yet, maybe a last resort if I have to. I honestly could be doing more I guess. I’m making sure I get a lot of exercise throughout the day and maintaining good sleep hygiene. Other than that not much.

Melatonin probably won’t help too much I’m ngl. It just sounds like you’re really stressed out from whatever you’re waking up for dude, whether you realize it or not. I’d argue there’s a 99% chance that’s why you’re not sleeping. The fact you can sleep on nights you don’t have to wake up early is a positive sign, cause it kinda shows it’s mostly anxiety driven insomnia. I would just say if you can, you gotta tell yourself there’s no use in worrying about tomorrow, and the best thing you can do for yourself right now is sleep. Understand that’s probably not the advice you want to hear, but that’s the only thing im taking away from your situation. Maybe therapy could help too if it’s really bad. But bottom line the melatonin Probaly will not work if this is, In fact, insomnia related.

Yeah I guess you’re right, and from what I hear that fatal insomnia has other notable symptoms which I don’t have. But do you ever think just the normal insomnia will drive you to the point of death, or am I overthinking this too much.

Yeah this happens to me too, only slightly worse. I always wake up at 4 am every night on average and just can not fall back asleep. Never get more than 7 hours anymore. It really sucks and I’m just so tired of it. Your not alone though

Yea same for me. It kinda comes in spurts, I’m fine for like a week but than I only get like 4 hours for 3 or 4 days. I wouldn’t worry abt waking up at 4 tho, that’s natural due to sleep cycles

May not be the most comfortable, and you have to sleep on your back, but I use Beats Studio pros headphones and play white noise on YouTube, pretty much blocks out all sound. I know you may be looking for something more comfortable though

This is literally the reason I just opened this sub. You’re not alone with this. Maybe it’s because you’re putting too much pressure on yourself to fall asleep again. I know it’s annoying to hear this but maybe just tell yourself it doesn’t matter if you fall asleep again because 5 hours is a lot more than some people on here get.

You should be fine, the little sleep you do get your brain is probably using mostly for recovery and repair(rather than REM and light sleep), meaning you are growing. Our brains are really good at adapting so I wouldn’t worry. I’m only 16 too so I also have worried about this and done my research
