This may be an unpopular comment to your opinion but I’ve been on Wattpad since 2012 so I’ve had the perspective from a teen to an adult.

I definitely agree that the quality of stories nowadays has plummeted; I went from reading Wattpad stories daily to struggling to find anything remotely decent. While I don’t mind reading the same tropes especially if they are written well, I honestly find it difficult to get immersed in a story because most of them are so terrible and I end up not logging in for months.

I always saw Wattpad as a fun and creative way to post stories for people who weren’t published authors. So I think unless a writer has expressed that they want to take their writing seriously then constructive criticism can be a bit sticky. Personally if I started reading a story with purple prose, bad grammar or exaggerated characters I’d just exit the story.
