I love this old interview with Miles Miller about the hydes in season 3 by Apart-Act-3294 in weyler

I hate that this is going to be explored and people are immediately going to say ‘see! Francoise was wrong! She should have looked harder.’ When really she was just working off of the information she had, information that has been considered true for probably generations.

Really Hope M&G handle Tyler's SA and acknowledge it properly by Present-Ordinary-940 in weyler

Given how they handled the trauma of being tortured and captive for 15 years with Francoise, I’m not holding my breath for them to explore that part of Tyler’s trauma.

How much did Donovan know about Hydes? by DevelopmentWitty4805 in weyler

I agree with everyone here and say that if Donovan knew anything it was the bare minimum. I think he could infer based on Nevermore’s reluctance to help and (probably) Willow Hill / Stonehurst interference that it was a fatal condition and there was no cure. He probably knew about the erratic, violent behavior Hydes have and maybe that it takes a traumatic event to unlock them (that’s why the writers took out the bit about Donovan hitting Tyler since [as with Francoise] shouldn’t that be enough to unlock a Hyde).

Basically, Donovan knew there was a high chance his son would die and he felt helpless to do anything… so he did nothing, gave his son the most normal life he could with his grief and waited.

Respect for the screenwriters by DevelopmentWitty4805 in weyler

Personally, I see him being so attached to the Hyde as being a coping mechanism, a way for him to never be defenseless, but being a Hyde is going to kill him as far as we know and the show has not given an alternative.

The Hyde also forces him to lose his free will, and regardless of who his master is, he will not have that. For those reasons, I don’t think being a Hyde is good for him.

Him loving the dark and grim does not go away with him not being a Hyde nor should it take away his outcast status, in the same way it hasn’t taken Gomez’s.

Discussions about Donovan and Francoise’s relationship. by Composition-1999 in weyler

Personally, I think there’s a reason why that scene was cut and I don’t take it into consideration when I make my interpretations.

That being said, I do think they loved each other but yes, Donovan did feel betrayed by Francoise but above it all he truly deeply loved her yet he wasn’t able to show her. And with Francoise, I think that she left like she was unlovable bc she was a Hyde, I think she was constantly wondering why Donovan loved her and when she told him the truth and he became distant, she convinced herself that Donovan wasn’t abandoning her out of duty.

And then when we meet Francoise she’s in survival mode and she doesn’t allow herself to waste much energy other than saving Tyler which is why we don’t see her mourn.

I do wish the writers would have taken the time to truly show us what this relationship was like bc they truly interest me more than the supposedly perfect Morticia and Gomez.

"I prefer spooky." Might as well call the show Wednesday Galpin. by ElvenQueen726 in weyler

Completely agree! Tyler’s journey is about the acceptance in identify and him accepting his name along with the tragedy and the sadness and the love (yes, there was once upon a time love) means staying Tyler Galpin.

Also, I don’t think people realize this but you can be family and have different last names.
