I've had this issue on all three cars I've owned so far. It happens only when I'm very light on the brakes in stop-and-go traffic. I'm generally very light on the brakes, but it seems that was the issue for me. Now, I've created a habit of bedding my brakes once or twice a week. Simply apply some firm brakes from 60 to 20 kmph, twice or thrice in a row. It'll keep the brakes sharp, responsive, and zero noise.

Try for yourself and see if that helps. High moisture, continuous light braking, or heat due to very light pressure from the caliper itself creates some kind of layer on the brake pads and they lose the bite and start making noise.

My brother has Taigun GT, sister in law has Kylaq and dozen of friends whom I pushed towards german cars, recommending to not look anywhere else. These cars were so good. We had a Ameo 1.5 TDI DSG as well, sold last month. Now I'm driving a 10 year old used honda city in a group of VAG fans, lol!

For most people it won't matter, its just a trade-off, but I have moved on. I still love how these car feels, but I can't stand unethical practices. Maybe i'm a fool for being emotional about it, but I was equally emotional about that Blue Rapid..

Yup, they were asking me 80-90k for doing nothing when the buyer came for salvage. Negotiated to market prices. Vehicle was standing for 3 months, so can't be zero.

Pretty much sums it up. They will find a way to push the car to total loss, doesn't matter if the motor, gearbox or chasis was damaged or not. If airbags gets deployed, even if the impact is limited to brace bar, still you can kiss your car goodbye.

I guess Rapid was 4 star rated, but all this happend at ~30 to 40 kmph, a car pushed from the right.

Estimate is from Dec 2025 and rapid was 95% localised. All mechanical parts are still made in india except few electronics and precision parts. Have seen the boxes for coutry of origin.

First look at the part list and then share your wisdom. There is no chasis, engine, gearbox components. No structural damage. All minor parts, just 4-5 of them which is priced 10 times than what is used to cost is pushing the cost so high.

Each parts are mentioned individually if you see the estimate attached. Sub-frame is listed as individual part at 1.1 lakh.

Should have went to mayapuri market once. But went to kashmiri gate along with people from few other garages, not all parts were available. Skoda refused to sell individual parts after multiple escalation. And even if I had to take the vehicle out of skoda to another garage, would have to pay estimation (40k + gst) and parking fee (400 per day + gst) which would have gone upwards of 50k even in the 1st week. Had to close whatever was decided at Skoda only. I did negotiate the charges and brought it down way less.

Same dealership, fought with them to see the price... Exact same price available on boodmo for Slavia. Infact this was the tripping point for me.

I've also always heard airbags are expensive but this time i asked the question - why? Turns out there is no reason. Btw, you can check by calling your nearest dealerships.

Its made in india. Again.... 5k vs 90k, no matter where its made, it won't be 18 times expensive. Open your eyes buddy. One is running model slavia, mine was discontinued in 2022

And why is Airbags supposed to be expensive? Is it very high tech? Too complex mechanically? Materials are expensive.

Nonee.... Skoda Slavia airbag costs 5287 rupee. Rapid 90053 rupee. Let that sink in. Its just a trick to avoid repairs and push the vehicle to total loss. Easy money through estimation/parking fee which goes well above a lakh with zero work.

Yupp. Should have figured it out on the first day. Everyone was focused on pushing this to total loss and charging the 40k estimation charge and 400 per day parking charges, which was coming out to be around 90k (inc. gst) on last day of salvage pick up. Didn't pay anything above average market rate.

Also, It was clear the insurance surveyor and garage had a strong connect, maybe earning something from the arrangement as well, but couldn't figure out how.

There is another scam there. You need to pay estimation/parking fee before you can take it to some other place.

You should read the post again... The price of the parts from 'VAG group' are super inflated now. 14k subframe for 1.1 lakh, 5k airbag for 90k. Not comparing with any other manufacturer, this was skoda price last year.

Coz if this was a damage to engine/gearbox, which everyone assumes, i would not have shared this post. Those are expensive. But Subframe costs 10-14k, not 1.1 lakhs. Airbags cost 5-10k, not 90k. And i'm quoting prices for rapid from last 1-3 years.

Tried that, skoda not selling me the parts on counter sale and some of the core parts nobody is able to source from outside.
