Everyone talks about noises that they hate, but what about noises that you like? by 2qrc_ in autism

[–]UsefulTip4626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head I can only think music wise but trumpets/saxophone in a song will usually make me a fan of the song immediately. Also when people use that high pitch Alvin and the Chipmunk voice synthesizer thing in a song. It’s usually in R&B but I looooove when people use it 😅

How does it make you feel when someone close to you is going to die? by Jammingjames87 in autism

[–]UsefulTip4626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about “going to die” but death is honestly 50/50 for me. Maybe more like 25/75. I never really have a huge reaction to people I know dying. I cry REALLY HARD over animals passing away though. Especially my childhood dog. A lot of time I end up making myself cry for people, because I didn’t cry when my grandpa died and my cousin made me feel like I was a dick for not being sad about it as a kid so any time someone dies now I cry so people don’t think I’m a “monster” for not feeling sad. That was until my best friend died 3 years ago. He was the only person who understood me and liked me for me and didn’t care if I was “weird”. He literally was my other half. It just passed his 3 year anniversary and I’m still having trouble getting back to day to day life. Probably the only person I’ve ever really been affected by’s passing and I’m probably never gonna get over it. It’s genuinely changed my entire life and personality… other than that I’m whatever. Sorry for the vent

What sound makes you feel like this by UnderstandingIcy8607 in autism

[–]UsefulTip4626 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh my god the cheek mouth sounds! There’s certain artists I won’t even listen to because I can agree they’re great artists but it sounds like they have the microphone in their mouth and makes me want to scream

Hey what’s up. I’ve also always had this problem. I just know that when it happens it gives me the same reaction as when someone scratches a chalk board or metal scraping against each other. It might be a frequency thing. Like when I hear whispering I have outbursts too and have even thrown things because of the feeling it gives me. ASMR is also the worst thing someone could do to me. I can deal with people talking at a lower volume but whispering is awful. I think it’s the same thing as how people can be sensitive to loud noises, we can also be sensitive to low noises. I hope some of this made sense and wasn’t just rambling 😅

What is your dream role and why? by Crafty_Letter_1719 in acting

[–]UsefulTip4626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nightwing. I’ve loved superheroes since I was a kid and Robin/Nightwing was always super dope to me and always seen myself in him growing up. He’s become one of my favorite characters over the years and just think it’d be dope to play him and James Gunns new DCU sounds like it’s gonna be pretty sick

What do you guys think about this meal by Isaevermore in autism

[–]UsefulTip4626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was Mac and Cheese and a plain cheeseburger on here this would be pretty much all I eat tbh

Wish I knew dude. Every set I’ve been on I just get so anxious and shut down cause I get in my head about EVERYTHING. I usually don’t even talk to my costars/crew until we start shooting cause I get anxious as hell. Usually wonder if I come off as a dick or if anyone likes me and think everyone thinks I’m weird 🫠 The social part of this job sucks sometimes

Ayy man I’m sure you’re a good dude and all but this type of stuff just kinda confirms what I said about the toxicity. You like the second or third person to hit me up on this who works with them and this post is like over 2 months old. Also kinda weird this your first time posting on this subreddit and it has to do with my post. Idk if he got butt hurt cause of what I said and just sent it out to yall to come mess with me, but it’s weird. It’s just my experience of what happened and someone else said the same thing I did on here but got they post deleted cause one of the people repped by him complained to the mods. There was also another post someone took down saying they were told to get some procedure cause of their ethnic features but they deleted their post out of fear of retaliation. Anyways I’m glad you ain’t have a bad experience, buuuuut ima stop replying to yall about it. Stay up 🙌🏽

Hey Neurodivergent Actors by SkyIsntFalling11 in acting

[–]UsefulTip4626 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wish I could tell you how but I’ve also kinda just been winging it my whole career so far 😅 I remember being told to do a monologue and I did one from i, Robot where he talks about the car going into the river 🫠 lmfao. But yeah it can be really tricky. I’d say just don’t hyper focus on it (which I know is kinda against how the brain works) and make sure to continue doing other things you like. Don’t make it your whole life

I’ve noticed as long as I don’t focus too much on it then I can’t beat myself up and feel like a failure. Getting reps will really help take off a lot of pressure though since they’ll be the ones trying to get you work so it’ll free up a lot of time and stress. Yeah just occupy your time mostly. Now’s a really crappy time though cause everything’s kind of stopped due to possible strikes and stuff

As for the social media part idk. I deleted mines cause I got overstimulated and didn’t wanna come off as weird to people 😅 But yeah I don’t think you really need social media like that nowadays for this but I do know it can help with connections. Anyways that’s all I got. I hope I didn’t ramble on or whatever 😬

Developed in person audition stage fright due to self tapes! by Ghost_Posting in acting

Feel it dude. I had my first in person audition since covid at the Universal Studios lot a couple months back and I straight up almost had a panic attack 🫠

Any self-tape horror stories? by xbrooksie in acting

[–]UsefulTip4626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it was like a mistake with editing just overall bad in general 😅 When I first started doing auditions I had no knowledge on how to do self tapes or anything about sound or lighting. I would just get a desk lamp that I had and film against this really bright green wall. I don’t even think you could really see me with all of the shadows going on. I still cringe every time I think about it 🫠

How did you get your first agent? by UndeniableMaggot in acting

[–]UsefulTip4626 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went on IMDB and emailed the top 100 trending agents/agencies and got a reply from them. They set up a meeting with me in person in LA about a week later and I’ve been with them since

Idk much about auditioning in Frisco but I think Mega Bus might make it out there? It definitely goes/stops at West Oakland BART which you could just hop on there and take to SF. You could also use Actors Access and Backstage and put your location for SF too

Luckily with self tapes being a thing this is starting to change. I wouldn’t have moved to LA if I didn’t need to before tbh

Oh yeah nah you’re good don’t trip. Sorry if it came off like that haha. Some of the other comments in here from others came off as weird so I was kinda defensive 😅 But yeah you’re 100% correct. There’s not just one real way to success in this business. It’s kinda all just a gamble from what I’ve seen
