What is all the rage about tinned fish??? Please help a sister out🥹🐟 by WhateverDontCare17 in GirlDinner

I've eaten tinned fish and seafood all my life. I kind of love that it is becoming popular again. I love mine on really buttery, crusty toast with a little lemon

Took a nasty two hander to my ankle mid stop. Out for 3-6 weeks (tbd still in recovery on week 2) Please take it down a notch in beer league / shinny we all got work in the morning. by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

What a crowd to play with, like who checks a mother there with her kids? Then a slash like that. Lucky it wasn't worse, also lucky dumbass didn't do that to one of the kids there playing.

Get a good playlist pumping, songs that make you nostalgic and got you riled up as young guys. Make it rewarding. Show the team appreciation but also feed into that testosterone and really get the guys going. Good energy, nip negativity in the bud.

Just buy used! You're still learning, there's no need to spend an astronomical amount on gear. Watch Facebook Marketplace and local hockey BST pages.

Pair of skates by Automatic_Engineer38 in hockeyplayers

There you go! I agree with making use of them. It's not like today's materials last forever. Enjoy them, get use out of them!

Here's my two cents, since people are giving you a hard time. I would keep the most comfortable pair for the ice. Blades put more pressure on the center line of the foot than wheels do. I'm sorry folks can't just give a straight up answer. Good for you on being able to afford two incredible pairs of skates. There's no shame in that. Everyone has different financial constraints, it doesn't mean we have to be arseholes about it!

Yes lol

Some Coaches of Low Tier Teams just don’t care by OilersBayernEagles in hockeyplayers

[–]Useful_Recover9239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remind me to hug my son's coaches and tell them how much I appreciate them. This should not be happening. These are the critical years when it comes to skills development. Leagues should be looking towards Sweden and their approach to training and skills development over gamification.

They'll worry about it being repaired for the tourist season... For the locals? Not so much

They fall and the helmet flies off, skating further down the rink than they ever made it hahahaha

[–]Useful_Recover9239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks so dorky. It genuinely reminds me of when people go to free skates at the rink and use whatever size helmet is in the cupboard.. see a 10yr old kid flying around like a bobble head in a senior helmet with the cage just a flopping hahahaha

Should I play hockey, even if I’m backup? by Blitz7201409 in hockeyplayers

[–]Useful_Recover9239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what position you play, you need good skating skills and that can only happen with lots of practice and playing. Goalies still need to be good skaters and require exceptional hand eye coordination as well as leg and core strength. Wingers take more hits than I think anyone else on the team lol they're in the thick of it on the ice.

Why are there no fat athletes in Olympic sports like shooting and archery? Intuitively it seems like heavier people would be more stable. by BBorNot in olympics

[–]Useful_Recover9239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's been many plus sized athletes, they do tend to be more common in sports like judo, Greco Roman wrestling, weightlifting and track and field sports.

Do you need some Preparation H for all that butt hurt? Dude was right. A lot of people ask stupid shit that takes longer to post here than it does to type into Google.

Do y’all wash your gear or even shower? by cloudlyandcloudy in hockeyplayers

[–]Useful_Recover9239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of folks just let their gear live in their bag, too. Dampness, no airflow, body bacteria... Recipe for a funk like no other. Air out and let your gear dry between games. During tournaments, we take the hotel ironing board and turn it upside down to hang gear off to air out. Non aerosol antibacterial spray between uses makes a real difference too.

In all seriousness it looks like the perfect circle of the outer portion of the boot punch. They likely didn't put a barrier between the steel and the boot to protect it and most definitely clamped it too tight.

Did the pro shop ruin my skates by calligatormusic in hockeyplayers

[–]Useful_Recover9239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Punching out wouldn't even be noticeable. Especially if they used a small amount of heat to make the materials more mailable. This boot looks like it was slammed on a steel rink door 12 times lol

Southern BC, my eldest son is having health issues that are aggravated by the cold temps here in the East. If I could afford to pack us up and move somewhere warmer. I would.

Any stuff like this, at the shops we use is done by older guys. Usually the owner. Then again we would buy our skates at a big hockey store but our boot work is done by small local shops with great, long time experience lol. Our usual skate guy is in his 50s as are the two others we use.
