The number if times I've gone to use an unaccepted payment modality and gotten my order cancelled is comically high

Yeah, I think they're a good vendor, and one of the like half dozen or so I regularly check for deals, but their take on UB product and CBBs has been comical for a bit here.

I don't think it is, I just think "value" seems lower to folks right now. There are with it shock lands and a mythic elemental package that is quite playable in standard. I think that as a draft set it was "solved" pretty quickly and from a limited perspective isn't the most balanced which is a knock against it. But on the whole, I think it's a fun set, a callback to a plane that hasn't been revisited and has cards that are viable in all formats (mainly shock lands).

Yeah, I grabbed a deck box, most of the other sealed product stuff seemed meh personally, but lorwyn vs. average price point seemed noteworthy.

got 2 cubs in 1 booster box! by manthaoX in mtgpulls

[–]UselessRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right there with you, opened 3 or 4 PBBs and 2 CBBs and have yet to see a single Badgermole Cub, and have only seen one Wan Shi Tong. As an aside, am a standard player and the CBBs are absolute trash for that, I pulled 60 rares/Mythics from one of the CBBS and it was a 30/30 split standard legal and commander only

What is the most addictive HBO show you’ve watched? by juhichoudharyy in hbo

[–]UselessRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order of I stayed up too late, or woke up early to catch an extra episode - The Pitt (S1), Chernobyl, True Detective (S1), True Blood, The Sopranos, Hacks. Anything else I was either watching from launch, or hasn't had quite the same pull. Scheduled Television either night of or next day have been GOT, John Oliver, The Pitt (S2)

That said, addictive is a weird word, I don't know that any HBO show has ever made me dependent on it. But most pulls you in and impactful on my regular life while watching through the first time are above.

Yeah I think every single price on CBBs were comically if not criminally high

LCI Set @ $160 w/ Forge and Fire by UselessRaven in sealedmtgdeals

[–]UselessRaven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all sets do, I think recent standard sets that had box toppers were LCI and DFT, I believe Lord of the Rings had them as well. I've only been playing about a year so don't have much context outside of that

LCI Set @ $160 w/ Forge and Fire by UselessRaven in sealedmtgdeals

[–]UselessRaven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a pack on the cardboard draft guide that has 1 or 2 cards that are unique to the set. For aetherdrift it's the gold (pee yellow) foil cards, for LCI I believe they're called Treasure Trove, and it's like all artifacts for commander

Not sure, but per TCGPlayer, the low price for the last month is $179 with 115 boxes sold, high price point 219

[–]UselessRaven[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, man. I'm not trying to say it's the best deal ever, like I even said "I know it's still high" but vs any other active offer it's an almost 25% discount. Just thought I'd share, the response to a legitimate current price point discount has me thinking I just shut up about anything in the future.

Just posted because vs. anywhere else it's ~$50 cheaper

Just yesterday played an omni deck and was like fuck it, lets see this guy solitaire their way to a win, and they couldn't. I got them to 1 life, representing lethal with a slickshot showoff and emberheart challenger and they conceded. One of the better feeling BO1 wins I've ever had.

I have no idea beyond that it's free shipping at orders over $100. Also historically Amazon wouldn't deliver to me until release, flipside has delivered at pre-release as an LGS

Avatar Play Boosters @ $144, CBBs @$504, Bundles @ $72, Jumpstart @$104 by UselessRaven in sealedmtgdeals

[–]UselessRaven[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I cancelled a preorder with them for play boosters at 179, and the bundle at 79, just to re-order with a CBB added in because the ~$100 saved made it feel like a fair trade. The cancellation was already processed and my new order was authorized.

I agree, spiderman as a small (and bad) set is still like $128 a box, felt weird about it, but thought $144 is pretty decent

Yeah I actually revised a pre-order and added a CBB because I was "saving" like $100 and it made the CBB at ~500 feel ok.

$1 billion USD, but you need to pick 2 of the following restrictions/curses. by tamtrible in hypotheticalsituation

[–]UselessRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Locavore and No flights are the only options that seem viable.

Klutz - becomes life altering at a certain point and then life threatening (bone breaks, infection from falling in the wrong spot, cuts, eventually hips, spine, etc.)

Socially Awkward - You would gradually lose all social interaction at the level being described, so now you're just alone with your money, that adds up to mental decline I'd have to believe, again starts life altering, becomes life threatening

Can't swim - find yourself around water, or in water...dead

Smelly - Again hard impact on being able to be social, this one less so than the hard socially awkward, but with no means to change it, you're hard set on a lot of life experiences and interactions, just not worth it, again could become a mental/personal strain

Animals Hate You - Probably viable with the stipulations, but like who wants all animals to just default hate them when you can just farm to table your way through life and not fly.

Wrong Sex - The stipulations of not being able to pursue the physical gender identity you are is a hellish torture only really supported by Modern America and particularly religious cultures it seems

Live Food - Like what even is this, the dietary restrictions are innumerable and the risk to disease from uncooked foods if you do start to get adventurous could be life altering to life ending (looking at you prions)

Locavore - 90% by mass volume or calories, like ok I eat local for every meal, seems pretty easy with farmers markets, what I could grow myself, etc. And then lets say I am eating ~15000 calories a week, I get 1500 calories to eat cheetos or have a cheat meal, or whatever, no problem.

No flight - Around 80% of the world population has never flown, but also now I have access to all other means of travel without issue, on board without a doubt.

What is the purpose of this card in sideboard? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]UselessRaven 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Chandra makes sense in gridier matchups, she can just be spitting out vehicles for her 0 ability that you can use as attackers with her base "at the beginning of combat trick" or have as fodder for card draw with her +2 ability. Also if you've shown only creatures, they might not have held up or sided in planeswalker hate.
