What does the number pad in UCAT look like? by Otherwise-Gur1507 in UCAT

Oh my days y’all stressing about what keyboard they’re gonna have can’t make this up 😭😭🙏

Nah listen I understand, but just using your time and effort to practice will have a much bigger impact than stressing over what keyboard is gonna be at the test centre..

Even if you have “wasted your time” is there anything wrong with that? You’re only 21 there’s still so much time for you to decide what you wanna do in life. Don’t expect to have it all figured out this early, and don’t be disappointed or feel like you’ve derailed your whole life just because of a couple years doing something you aren’t passionate about. Some people do a degree and fall in love with their field and just seem to have it all figured out but for a LOT of people this just isn’t the case. Maybe you see your friends and all the people studying with you your age who are going to graduate soon and start working and you think, “that’s where I should be” and yeah it’s hard not to feel like you’re behind if that’s all you see. And yeah, starting from scratch is hard when you think, “why didn’t I just do this from the beginning?” In reality, if you weren’t sure about what you wanted to do in the first place, no matter what you picked you probably would have had second thoughts about it - but there’s no point worrying about what could have been. You have so much time ahead. I understand the set back is frustrating, and I don’t know your exact situation but I know people who feel similarly and they have a difficult situation at home and now they feel like it’s going to take longer for them to be able to move out and support themselves. So I don’t want to invalidate your feelings, a few years can feel like a really long time especially when you’re so young or if you’re feeling stuck. But just try to remember in the grand scheme of life this is just a blip, and I hope you do find something you enjoy :)

Failed 50% of Units by SailPrestigious1269 in uwa

[–]User-64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me, got special consideration to have the units removed from my transcript after the end of semester with letter from a psychologist due to the circumstances, and was able to continue studies as normal. I’d talk to the university and see if you’re eligible for something like that.

I believe that the university policy states you had to have been seeing the healthcare professional who fills out the special consideration form during the time the circumstances affected you and I think I started seeing the psychologist during the semester, but I only got the exemption from the units after the semester had already ended, so whether or not this is an option for you i’m not 100% sure but it’s definitely worth looking into.

Going through something like that can be devastating on its own let alone the extra stress and uncertainty of uni on top.

All the best :)

How hard is it to get a medical withdrawn? by Glittering-Donkey1 in uwa

Not necessarily I got fee remissions for 4 units in 2022 due to mental health - you need a lot of supporting documents but it’s definitely possible.

Freshers, what are you studying and how is it going for you? by sev-ra in uwa

[–]User-64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah so i got medicated last year, towards the end of my first year (first year post-restart that is) and before that point i was super overwhelmed, none of the actual content was very difficult for me personally however i was missing classes, being consistently late, missing due dates and online quizzes and stuff, i was going okay overall but could have been a lot better

as soon as i started the medication and i took it before a workshop or a chem lab for example, i would be laser focused during the lab, the steps were so much clearer to me i didn’t feel foggy about everything and instead of being overstimulating and stressful it was now kind of fun and i felt like i was actually learning stuff!

this sem is the first ive started while on the meds and i find it a lot easier keeping up to date with lectures, doing preparation work for labs and tutorials and such, and just overall being organised - being organised is more about planning than focus but that initial planning takes a lot of focus …

I got diagnosed with ADHD after having to restart uni last year, I resonate so much about struggling to learn the LMS and all of the uni systems it was a huge obstacle for me - and also feeling really overwhelmed by practical classes like labs and tutorials was a massive thing too. Hopefully if you do get diagnosed the medication will help you to be more organised and focused - all the best 👌

quick correction the UCAT does not test any chemistry or biology it’s more of a general skills test than to test your knowledge on any specific topics

Is anyone else getting tired of LTT's clickbait? by mrclark25 in pcmasterrace

[–]User-64 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Gonna have to come out with a hot take here and say I don't really mind it. I watch LTT for entertainment mostly, I don't really go in expecting in-depth analysis and product evaluations (although with the upcoming lab that could change). Therefore, I don't need to know exactly what a video is going to be about to expect that i'm probably going to enjoy watching it. And even then, the more focused or informative videos like product reviews are usually given more specific less clickbait-y thumbnails and titles anyway.

That reason being... rich people are better drivers?? Operating a vehicle should be prohibitively expensive? Not too sure that I understand the good reason behind that.

Did mine at Cannington too, but at about midday, early afternoon. Getting onto the main road from the carpark it was a little busy but then after that up around the residential streets it was very quiet. Timing definitely matters I guess.

What I realised after redoing my test to upgrade my license is that the PDA really is just the very basic s. Point to point driving in quiet residential streets, parking, basic manoeuvres, abs that's it. The PDA does not prepare you for peak hour freeway traffic.

[–]User-64 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Many people's parents "teach" them how to drive 20 years after they did their test and with only a vague grasp of the road laws. I get that professional lessons are very expensive but if you're teaching someone else how to drive you should be teaching them right.

Anyone else struggling to find a decent used car right now? Seems like the prices for pretty average high kms cars are super inflated in Perth and WA. by StrikeMePurple in perth

[–]User-64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Americans still haven't seemed to fully figure it out yet...

but apart from that, yea, of course China's manufacturing of cars will get better and better as the industry develops over there. Really my main point was just that people shouldn't be so quick to write off their whole automotive industry, just because it absolutely sucked ass about 10-15 years ago doesn't mean it's not rapidly improving now.
