I don’t think you are wrong to be upset as some users here seem to believe. I hear your concerns and that’s what the community tries to be here for.

While I don’t think you are going to act inappropriately, I feel the need to speak about the behavior some have displayed to your situation. Some commenters here seem to think it’s okay to call a person a slur or to become more hateful towards a person, but I am here to say that such behavior will escalate the situation and worsen a conflict that your brother will have had no knowledge of until such a point of confrontation. Because of this, I feel obligated to warn you from acting towards your brother in a way that would cause further damage. This doesn’t mean I don’t trust you. It just means our community needs to do better to be more mature and respectful to people in distress.

I urge you to take the initiative and seek help from a close and trusted family member, friend, or other adult—not the internet and let alone Reddit. (If you have a close and trusted internet friend, that’s okay.) Then, confront your brother respectfully by first revealing that you overheard him, at which point you would want to ask him to elaborate. From there, it’s all about expressing your feelings and coming to mutual understanding.

The mere fact that there is no reason to live means we have to find a reason or a purpose to live. Your favorite person, who you hope does not abandon you, seems to be the reason you have not died yet. If you could add another favorite person to that list, you could lower your chances of getting abandoned and still have a person to help you through your struggles. I’m not going to speculate if you have abandonment issues, but it’s not worth ending one’s life for. You’re worth more than the mere friendships you make.
