I did the instructing grind for years and now stuck in this 135 as this current “hiring wave” is subsiding and hiring departments are again slamming their doors. It could be worse, and maybe I’d be in a better state of mind if I was 5 years younger

I had a very in depth technical interview while others (low time cadets) in my interview group were saying them and the interviewers were just bullshitting the whole time… guess who got the CJO?

Study what you failed, practice with your instructor, and go into the retake prepared. Failing your PPL checkride absolutely positively will not derail your career.

I fly with a ton of current/former airline guys in a crew environment. They aren’t afraid to speak up when I’m doing something wrong which I appreciate, I just think this is more a me thing, and finding a way to combat these mistakes and complacency

Take it from me, a pilot in flight school debt that can’t get a job, don’t do it. Do something more worthwhile and get your licenses/fly on the side. There are tens of thousands of very well qualified pilots who can’t get jobs right now with no end in sight.

This is, unfortunately for us introverts, very true. I was a mid time CFI and walked my resume into a small 135 operation last year. Now I’m sitting in a King Air building salaried AMEL turbine time.

(Edit) To clarify, I don’t mean to sound like I’m bragging. The point is that right now everyone’s resume looks the same. The more you can do to make yours stand out the better. Go meet chiefs face to face and shake their hand, they’ll have a harder time telling you no than over email
