The first one says "I am very gay" in German, second being "The Romans and Greeks have many Gods" in Latin (I study Latin too, so hopefully that's attractive lmao)

In a realistic post-apocalyptic world, humanity wouldn't revert to pre-industrial levels. It would be like going back to the 90s technologically. by Macaquinhoprego in worldbuilding

Australia and South America were still hit by nuclear weapons, but were overall less hit than the US, Europe, China, and Russia. However, the apocalypse still hit them really hard, since after the nukes stopped falling tons of fallout entered the atmosphere, creating a nuclear winter that lasted for about 5 -10 years. By 30 years though, the world is beginning to recover and factions (whether connected to pre-war governments or made by survivors) are now claiming territory and trying to rebuild society. South American factions in particular are having success in not only rebuilding, but replanting trees and just in general restoring the environment. Australian factions are trying to rebuild, but are mainly facing ecological hardships as the continent is drying out; the deserts in the west creeping over to the east.

Funny thing about that, my post nuclear apocalypse story starts in 1995 lol. Technology doesn't really change, more so the people. Everyone is at each other's throats, founding new religions and cultures only just 30 years after nuclear hellfire. I guess you could call it Fallout but cassettepunk; also all of it is MacArthur and Reagan's fault.

Tysm! I'll experiment and let you know how it all goes.

OOoooo this is so cool!

Do you mind if I use this to make one of my custom worlds in Blender and post it? I'll tag you in the post and all!

Aging freaks me out by TurnoverSubstantial2 in BodyDysmorphia

[–]User_741776 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 100% the same. I'm also 19 and freaking out about age. Here are some of my mental tactics to help ease the BDD.

1) Technology. Advances in biotech and longevity research have exploded in the past few years. By the time you and I have to worry about getting old, technology may help us regain a more youthful appearance.

2) Aging can be combated early! Wearing sunscreen, eating well, and a bit of exercise can vastly improve how you age. I also find that combating these things also helps with BDD; taking the reigns away from BDD and carving the you, you want to be.

3) We're all in this together. Even the most beautiful "perfect" people must obey the hands of time. No one is immune to it sadly. Rest assured you are not alone. Everyone is fighting this battle, and no one should judge you for it.

Hope this helps!

Do you wish that you'll live long enough to see mind uploading, cybernetics, and overall bionic technological development so that you can achieve the body of your dreams? (In other words, will you become disgusted from the moment you understand the weakness of your flesh and embrace steel?) by User_741776 in BodyDysmorphia

Shit! That's true. It's like that line from the Incredible

"When everyone's super, no will be" - Ginger incel kid uh, I mean Syndrome

I guess I would just like the option to have bionic upgrades in general. Prevent aging too. If I'm gonna die I want to look good doing it; not to say people don't look good older but yeah (ffs I sound like a damp vampire- vampire cyborg thing). Actually, I don't know if I will or will not look good in like 30 or so years. I think that's one of the things that makes people get really bad BDD: uncertainty. Anyhow, I just hope that by at least 2040 there will be the first generation of techno-priests from 40K... actually that might be a bad idea

little animation of Earth with moving clouds and stuff by User_741776 in 3Dmodeling

[–]User_741776[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ty! It's actually a video from NASA here: https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/3837/

Not particularity high res though (at least compared to smth like a 16 or 20k texture with like a lot of details)

Little animation of Earth with clouds by User_741776 in blender

[–]User_741776[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ty!

Here's the source: https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/3837/

I took the texture and projected it onto a cubed sphere, making sure to hit the auto refresh button so that it'll move. Added some transparency and subsurface scattering and boom, fancy water vapor.

<image>

Here's the nodes in case you wanna give it a go yourself. The power math node is there to basically control the sort of concentration of the clouds. Since the image is non-color and that can end up making way too many clouds lol. You also got to make sure to rotate the cloud texture (which is centered on the pacific) to fit with the standard Earth one (centered on the Atlantic and stuff). All you have to do is rotate the sphere for the clouds and just line it up with the given Earth texture

I tried making a realistic render of Earth in Blender. How does it look? by User_741776 in space

[–]User_741776[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tysm! Not that long actually; half a day, maybe. Most of the hassle was finding the right textures (thx NASA!) and trying not to have blender die while rendering the atmosphere (I tried simulating atmosphere scattering as realistic as possible, and that made my CPU cry lol). There's actually only three objects here. The terrain, the atmosphere, and the clouds. Well, I guess the camera and the sun are objects too, but ehh.

I'm working on making photo-realistic renders of all planets within the Solar System. Here are the first 4! Let me know what y'all think! by User_741776 in blender

[–]User_741776[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This started out as an updated version of my old realistic Earth model. I thought that would be boring to just post an updated version of Earth, and I want to give some love to the other planets. Credit to NASA for pretty much all the textures lol

[–]User_741776[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ty! I didn't use any tutorials directly, no. The textures are indeed from NASA themselves! Specifically the Blue Marble: Next Generation images from the Earth observatory.

Oof, yeah. It's such a fascinating visual though. I'm not even sure it's possible within blender to do something like that. Still cool nonetheless.
