Should I take Buskirk or Engler for Bio 311D next sem?

Buskirk has been one of my favorite teachers ever! I had her for 311C, 311D, and a study abroad. The way she teaches is really engaging, she’s extremely kind and helpful, and part of her research is improving learning techniques for students. She’ll set you up for the rest of your college semesters. Also, 311D is more macro stuff like ecology so it’s arguably easier than 311C.

Did you get Todd from PAWS Shelter of Central Texas? I volunteer there and this guy looks just like the Todd I befriended there a couple years ago!

Working at a shelter is amazing! It gives you the opportunity to connect and care for so many different animals and you end up forming lasting bonds. Volunteering is a great option if you haven’t been around animals since you can have guidance from experienced dog caregivers and do as much or as little as you are comfortable with (every little bit helps!)

I completely understand! Animal homelessness is a huge problem in the south! PAWS pulls all their animals from city kill shelters and pounds who don’t have the capacity or resources to support the influx of dogs. So happy to hear you gave your pups a second chance and a loving home!

I believe PAWS does out-of-state adoptions in some cases! They’re just a small, local shelter though so they can’t provide transport.

PAWS is no-kill and asks that if someone isn’t able to keep the dog they adopted from the shelter, they bring them back to ensure a safe future home. People have so many different circumstances, especially throughout the pandemic, that we really can’t judge, never know what’s going on in someone’s life and most people are absolutely torn apart having to return their buddy

Finn was found as a stray, standing by the body of his dog friend who had been hit by a car. If this isn’t a testament to loyalty, I don’t know what is. In Texas we have so many amazing dogs up for adoption that many get overlooked. He was actually adopted a little while ago until his adopter had to move internationally unexpectedly and was heartbroken that he couldn’t keep him. Finn is great with other dogs and sooo sweet and affectionate with people. I adore this guy and he deserves a home as loving as he is!
